Rona is from the novella "Never", and Ruth is from the novella "How Far", both of them have been in very bad situations previous to this story, and it will really help to read both of them before reading this one. Don't worry, this story isn't as quite as dark as their origin stories.

I wake up feeling like I have the worst hangover in my lifetime. My head is swimming and my insides burn, to add to that it feels like someone is shoving two fingers down my throat.

I walked along a line of weary and wounded men. But they weren't men, at least not normal ones, their eyes were too big, the ears were pointed like an elf, they're skin was flawless except where dirt and wounds marred the almost angelic appearance. This is the story of how a boy's life changes after the very abrupt death of his mother.

The story itself starts with the boy remembering his mother's death which happened three years earlier, when he was just ten years old.
