GOC is good for the soul!

Its either that or the 'happy' pills

and as I haven't popped any poppers it has to be GOC!

I haven't done a lot whilst i've been up here but what I have done has been quality stuff. Well okay, Sunday could've been better, an over priced burger and a '99' sandwiched between long drives but it was the 'Home Counties' so I suppose we should make some allowances! Monday I caught up with my 'bestie' and got my best bike back into properly useable condition, Tuesday was a trip to the chiropodist and today, well I had to make sure the bike was fixed.

My choice of riding gear was a bit restricted so I set off under blue skies but into a gale intending to do @ 50km, up (and i do mean up) to Penistone then across towards Summer Wine country.

It was tempting to drop into Holmfirth but I stayed strong and with the wind more on my shoulder instead dropped to Langsett where it all went awry.

Instead of following the River Don back down to Sheffield I headed over to Mortimer Road. This is the road that the Tour de France deemed too difficult to ride in its entirety, the poor professionals only did one of the three climbs, okay it was the biggest and steepest but even so.

I had originally thought to follow their example but a new plan formed in my head so i continued south towards the actual Strines that features in Time for a Change.

Then it was a drop past Ladybower and into the Hope valley before climbing over the Eastern Edges close by Stanage as recently featured in a certain rock climbing tale before dropping at some speed into the western 'burbs of my home city.

A quick flick through the traffic and I was back at my fathers gaff, 90km and over 1200m after setting out. It had been tempting to extend the ride but I only had a round of toast and jam before setting out and had nothing with me so I was ready to eat when i got back!

The programme for the rest of the week is mostly more lock up sorting - box labelling and clothing sorting most specifically, just as well its inside as the forecast is looking a bit damp to the weekend. I already feel that i've got a lot done this time, the sorting out of space and tidying up has already made a huge difference, i've got a fair idea where most stuff is hiding, I do prefer some order!

There is another part to my SF story today, part Six sees more fighting but also ... no, you'll have to read it to find out.

That's all for today,
A'll be see'in thee
