and other stuff!

Apologies for the late posting but as I mentioned at the weekend things haven't exactly been going as smoothly as I'd hoped!

So, to catch up on the week so far we should start with Monday. Well hopefully you'll have spotted the Gaby posting after which I nursed the bike back to the lock up ostensibly to pick up some stuff for the afternoon endeavours. I had a little time to kill so I started sorting through a bit of stuff then it was another cautious bit of riding, no rear brake and a vaguely working front, across to my mates place. Over the course of the afternoon we did get me two working brakes and a fair bit of catching up, an invite to dinner extended things further so that i eventually got back to the sleep place a bit before 11!

Tuesday was warm, mid 20's, and the day I allocated to more sorting out and a look in the city centre. Things started out okay, with a working bike it was much less fraught getting there and I started checking through boxes. Then it went a bit awry, there was a crash behind me, ominous to say the least, a box of glassware had dislodged itself along with some other stuff so I spent the next 30 minutes clearing up broken glass! My best wine glasses were amongst the victims but no point crying over spilt, er, glassware.

After that things went better, I decided against the walk into the city in the heat so continued into the afternoon, finding most things I wanted, re-organising some stuff and accumulating a bunch of stuff I want in Brizzle. Sadly there's too much to load the bike with this time but, as Baldrick would say, I've a cunning plan! There's more to do before I head south again but less.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I'd arranged to go for a short walk cum catchup with some other old friends. It was another glorious day, we had a short walk to a site we dug on over 25 years ago, it was really good to be in familiar countryside with people i've known for something like 35 years. We had a pleasant al fresco pub lunch before returning to Sheffield, the weather only cooling a bit as I returned across the city.

And to today, well I've provided shopping escort for Dad this morning, posted the new Gaby chapter and after a quick lunch I'll take that trip into the centre for a bit of 'window' shopping. Hopefully my hay fever will relent a bit - its been going daft this week!

The new Gaby chapter from The Visitors is Best Intentions, a longer episode where the life of Drew Bond doesn't get any easier, if he wasn't doing too well before, this won't improve things.

That pretty much is it for today, tomorrow I go to see the Kidlings in Leeds, Saturday I've a walk cum picnic with some other friends and Sunday - well it's Fathers Day here so I'm not quite sure what's going off to be honest. There may be a posting here but I'll make no promises.

Madeline Anafrid
