Dear Diary
Okay. They were right. Alright? I admitted it, now. I'm not nearly as sore and it actually kind of felt good to work out at Gymnastics today.
The lady in charge (she doesn't wanna be called Miss Thompson, and I just can't call an adult, 'Callie,' so she's the lady in charge) has me working with other kids in tumbling. She says I'm making fast progress, but I just feel like I'm falling down a lot of the time. She says that next week, we'll move on to something to alternate lessons with.
Nothing overly exciting at school today. Just some dirty looks from Lisa, and Matthew stood on his chair in the lunchroom and recited Hamlet's soliloquy. Just, stopped mid-sentence, stood up and spouted, then sat down and resumed eating like nothing happened. Yeah, he's my friend now... but he's still weird. Mrs. Worthing has decided that we're to do a reading of the Canterbury Tales as a class at the Fall Showcase in November. That's about it.
The excitement was on the way home from Gymnastics. Daddy picked me up and we went for ice cream at A&W... the cream soda float is soooo awesome!
We ordered and were sitting there happily slurping and chatting, and this fat guy walked up and punched Daddy! Rather than explode (like -I- would have!), Daddy just wiped the blood off the corner of his mouth and looked at the guy, and said, "I think you have the wrong man, sir."
The guy laughed and cocked back his fist to punch Daddy again, and... and...
I didn't even see Daddy MOVE.
He had the guy in a headlock. The police arrived soon after and Daddy talked to them, they had me describe what happened, and then they talked to Daddy and the guy each privately. Then we came home, like nothing happened.
Parents can be way more entertaining when they're all mysterious.

Hurrah for being the first
For once :)
I have seen something like what was describe with the dad before and I couldn't stop laughing, but that's another story. Glad to hear that gymnastics is coming along.
Once she has loosened up and gets used to it, it will get easier and it will hurt a lot less.
Not sure that goes the same for ballet though.

Dear Courtney,
Gymnastics can be quite challeging. I was enrolled twice. Both times I was injured. I was obviously not meant for tumbling. ;) once, I ran up, bounced ona mini-tramp, to tuck into a flip, but I brought my knees up to far and gave myself two black eyes. ouch! So I admire anyone who can tumble.
The more you tell me about Mathew the more I like him. I once worked in a hospital with a guy who, unlike Mathew, was VERY outgoing. BUT like Mathew, did odd things to attract attention in his own way. One time while carrying our trays in the caffeteria and talking, he randomly sat down next to a total stranger, just to see the shocked look on her face. He loved to sing and talk to the bodies as we took them to the morgue. And during conversations, he would totally say something off the wall, just to stop people in mid sentence. :)
Wow! your dad really did that? I'm super impressed. He took a punch and then kicked the guys ass? well, put the guy down anyway. I'd want to know all. keep us informed.

It's nice that Courtney's been brought up to respect her elders. I'm not so sure I like the idea of "children" calling adults by their first name. Let them get old enough to get drafted... Then it's okay. Does it make sense? maybe not. For the LONGEST Time folks would say M. Xxxxx and I'd look around for my parents... I THINK I got over that now. :-)

I'm glad
Folks are enjoying it! I started it as sort of a spur-of-the-moment lark, trying to get the voice of a new character out of my head before she spilled out onto the pages of someone else's story... The first entry got a bit of response, so I wrote another... then another... and now, I'm pretty sure that at least a few people would be disappointed if I stopped. I'll go for at least one full diary worth of entries (Front and Back -- most diaries have 183 pages... so one page per day, using front and back... 366 days). I dunno, when it gets to that point, I may start a second volume :)

Have fun... Don't forget many "beginning" diarists occasionally "forget" a day or two, and catch up. I've always admired those that were able to maintain their diaries through all trials and tribulations.

We are all learning more
We are all learning more about Courtney each day she writes into her diary. Her Dad sounds like he is not a person to "piss off", but really knows how to hold his cool until he has to do something. Friends like Matthew are way cool to have as they do indeed keep you amused and guessing as to what they will do next. J-Lynn
