Well, last night, we had our Christmas dinner, and it was wonderful. There was a moment, when my daughter was on one side of me, my mom on the other, my brother and sister behind, and the dog in front, and I realized just how blessed I am, that here I was, literally surrounded by love, even in the midst of my transition which gives my family fits.
Once upon a time, I created a character named Fluke and described her as "the luckiest woman alive" but I think that title really belongs to me instead.
To all my friends and family here, especially those who understand what its like to be transgendered, I pray that someday, you will have a moment like I had today.

That is really wonderful; a loving accepting family is such a blessing. You certainly deserve it!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to blog about your feelings and activities during your transition. It is so meaningful to me and, I'm sure, the rest of us. After so long of hiding and lying, I desperately needed a place where I could be totally honest, and the most I hoped for from anyone who read it was to keep me accountable for telling the truth to the best of my ability. Dottie's Christmas Dinner
Glad you had a great family moment, Dorothy! Especially as some of your family are less accepting of your transition than others. I am glad they can still show their love despite this, especially at this time of year.
I'm going to my sister's place in a few hours, for our big Christmas dinner (we usually do it Boxing Day, but with my dad in the hospital this winter, things are a little different this year). This sister is the "supermom" type in our family, very good at organizing everything, very "type A" personality, so she always has a perfect multi-course meal for dinner, and a big appreciative bunch to enjoy it.
Have a great time with your own families, folks, whether they be your family by blood or by choice or by falling into a gang that accepts you... For those who don't have anyone to share the holidays with (and there are bound to be some, especially in our community), I hope things are better for you next year.
