Dressed As An Angel

Dressed as an Angel
by Julie D. Cole

[A song to sing to the music of Angel by Sarah McLachlan ]

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a new life that would make things okay,
There’s always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day,
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
To rid all past from my veins,
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight.

Just dressed like an angel
Far away from here,
In this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that I fear,
I’m now free from the wreckage
Of my silent reverie,
When I’m dressed in my room I feel just like an angel
And I find such comfort there.

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn,
There’s prejudice and bigots at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack.
It don’t make no difference
Escaping one last time,
It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness,
Oh this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees.

I like to dress like an angel
Fly away from here,
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that I fear,
I’m being pulled from the wreckage
Of my silent reverie,
When I’m dressed in my room I’m just like an angel
I will always find some comfort there,
When I’m dressed in my room I’m an angel
Yes I always find some comfort here.
