more from Yorkshire

Well, it's been a mild-ish day hereabouts, I had a short walk earlier around the nearest town to me (I live 10km from Sheffield Centre but less than 2 from Dronfield and 9 from Chesterfield even if my address is Sheffield!)

Then I set to at the KB and after a full ten hours, i've completed the final part of 1902 Sunbeam Safety! I'm pretty happy with it, it would have been so easy to have spun it out but that was never my intention with this. I'll get it edited and so on and you should be able to read it over the holiday.

Good news for a change

Yes there is some good news from Sheffieldland today - the first part of the new Gaby book just needs a run through the spell check and it's ready to go, cover illustration is selected' yup, Sunday is the day!

The wrist, having been confirmed not broken yesterday, improves by the hour but it still hurts like F! The problem now is the trauma to my hand, it got well rattled and the compensatory pains and strains - suppose I could take something for the pain but that's never been my way. I'm just fed up of hurting, can it go away now?

disaster!

Very much so i`m afraid, nice bright morning. Bit of frost so I was keeping to busier clear roads and looking out for ice on the road. Next minute i'm accelerating into an unstoppable off on some black ice!

Well to cut a long story short my right wrist took a whack and currently it's very painful to even hit a key on the phone! Which is a double blow as I had intended getting on with Gaby this evening ready to release tomorrow. Not sure what i`ve done, don't. Think it's broken but it's at least a bad sprain so things may be put back a bit.

Well more news tomorrow.

well

you were going to get previews and all sorts today but after I spent an hour doing it the site dumped it all. I've not got the patience or time to do it all again so here is Uniform Result instead.

advance warning

Well i'm having a bit of a time of things this week but I have got 1902 Sunbeam part 2 completed. The plan is to post it tomorrow.

Another mild day today, blue skies and sunshine this afternoon and some new lanes explored. Was a bit disappointed when I got to my Lunch stop of Rufford Abbey that they were having a Christmas Fayre! It's barely mid November, I thought Xmas was in late December?

on a lighter note

Thursday and with a nice dry and mild day I went for a ride - well you all know that's what I do for relaxation / inspiration. Today I heade east to Conisbrough Castle which overlooks the River Don not far from Doncaster. You might not know the name but it's where Ivanhoe was set and there are connections with the whole Robin Hood folklore thing (Robin actually came from Sheffield, Loxley is the home to Titanium manufacture believe it or not)

So, got home last night, turned PC on and a minute later - nada!

Yep you got it, Mad's PC has issues, it won't boot. There was no indication of an issue previously, no warning, its never been connected to the internet so not a virus but it's effectively dead.

The only good news is that the only work I can't access is the half chapter of Gaby book 24 I wrote on Monday. I'm sure everything is there still, just need to get to it!

There may be a delay in getting stuff out but hopefully it's just a short blip.

November - Sandal's?

Just a quickie - well I got my ride in, 115km (that's @ 75 old fashioned miles I think) and visited the Sandal's up near Wakefield. Had my sandwich and flask of coffee sat overlooking the Castle which, after the 'good ole boys' (aka the Parliamentarians, think Trump but with a more vindictive nature) got done with it in the 1640's is but a shadow of its former self.

break from Gaby

Well only a short break. Instead of writing new Gaby today i've been going at a short stand alone story. It's been slower going than i'd hoped but i've got over 2000 words down, there may be another couple of thousand to go - I know the plot, it just needs fleshing out.

I'm making no promises but it might be ready for Wednesdays update. No spoilers other than to say there are bikes involved, a death and the lead character is rather bland.

Well i'm off to bed, the weather is set fair for tomorrow so i'll get a bit of a ride in.

Gaby Soars!

Yes indeed, Gaby Ontario has soared all the way to number one in the youth sport category on Kindle thanks to you lot! No mean feat in a popular category dominated by horse and soccer stories. For a cycling story to break this grip is very positive and will hopefully engender a few more non TG readers!

So a great big thank you to you all and remember that if you bought through BC the site gets a kickback which goes towards continuing this great asset.

Once again, thank you

Gaby Ontario part 4 update

Well Amazon surpassed themselves this time!

So in case you got impatient checking I can advise that the book has, finally made its Kindle appearance a mere 3 days after being submitted. Just search Gaby Ontario and it'll bring up all 4 parts. Do so through a BC link and you'll be adding to this site's coffers too.

For the more patient of you, i've got the full volume ready to launch tomorrow. Yup, the whole exciting kit and kaboodle all in one 300+ page volume. The tension runs all the way to the last paragraph with more going on in young Bonds life than ever!

bad head place

Firstly I should apologise for another whiney post - I'm not in a good place in my head this week.

I guess it's largely my own fault, decisions i've made that have maybe not been the best choices. Every time I think i've got my head and life together another spanner falls into the works and i'm not even back to where I started. Effectively i'm bankrupt - no regular income and bills that need paying has become a repeating cycle of worry.

Head work

So, here we are 3/4's of 2018 has passed and my life has changed even from six months ago. Some things like my fitness and the new grand child have been very positive but it's not all been a bed of roses. Some ancient debts caught up with me which has meant having to borrow a significant amount which in turn has meant that i've been living on beans for much of the year! Then there was all the upheaval with the new kitchen....

Back in Blighty

Well, here I am, back in the land of my birth and a few of my forefathers. After a week of predominantly warm sunshine, no sooner had we landed did the rain start to fall, the temperature definitely 10c cooler than when we left Germany! If you go here there are a few pictures which give a flavour of the trip.

News from Maddy!

So here I am - sat outside a restaurant in Nordlingen eating Gnochi Gorgonzola and drinking beer, wearing shorts and sandals as it's into the 20's c!

My stint as Nena, tour guide is 80% over as we fly home tomorrow. We've had a day doing the Roman Limes (think Hadrian's Wall but longer) around Aalen, yesterday we went down to the Donau for a Keltische visit and today has been the hillfort of Ipf before an afternoon here in the Ries crater at Nordlingen.

Quick Gaby Update

Okay folks

So i've just finished writing chapter 23.29, the second of an 8 hour writing session!

Tomorrow then will see the arc completed, a full day it will be, a longish ride in the morning/afternoon then into writing mode in the evening - I already have a fair idea of what's going to be included in the chapter so it will hopefully go quickly! Then it's into assembly and editing so that I can release to you lot on Sunday.

sorry

That I wasn't able to post a new chapter today - my day trip was something i'd pretty much forgotten about but I really wanted to do.

What was it I hear you ask? Well for those who do history, specifically English history, I spent the day doing Richard III, Bosworth Battlefield, the Greyfriars excavation site and visitor centre and his last resting place, Leicester Cathedral. Just because it was there I visited the medieval Guildhall too - quite a full day!

Fixed!

Okay - well I had to get online for another issue that was unforeseen so I've taken the opportunity to fix the Gaby chapter stuff before I go home to write more. Seems that I posted the wrong chapter for 13, 23 is correct so if you go to Commitment you can read the real chapter 13 which might make 14 etc more sense! Sorry everyone, back to the grindstone!
