Well now that I've posted the first part of 'Destiny: Legacy of a Spellbinder' I thought I'd pop in and tell folks about my upcoming projects. I've started up on a sequel to Hunger Pangs which I've tentatively titled 'Appetite for Seduction'. I have written much of anything in the last few days, but I'm at around 4000 words.
I'll probably post this on the FM Hyperboard as well. I generally try to avoid multi-site cross-posting, but in this case I feel it might be beneficial.
Well, over the last few days I've been compiling my stories into eBook and making them look all nice and 'perdy', but I ran into a bit of snag when creating the eBook for Hunger Pangs. The images I used as the cover here on BCTS just wouldn't work for an ebook well at least not and look good. The dimensions were wrong and they were too small. I really didn't want to recreate the images so I got to thinking and did a redesign of the cover using the existing images and combined them with a new image to make this:
So, I decided to make eBooks out of my stories. Originally, my intent was to create them so that I could put them on my tablet for my own use (for reference purposes), but I got to thinking that maybe other folks might like to have copies.
So I guess what I'm wondering is would people be interested in having a copy of my stories in epub, mobi or pdf format?
Well I took a look at my current word count on the third story in the Ragnarok Rising Trilogy 'Destiny' today and I realized something. I have over 50,000 words which makes it my longest tg story yet. Hunger pangs is somewhere around, 38,000 words, Incompatible is around 27,000 words and the revised version of Transfigured is about 16,000 words.
I've updated the Ragnarok Rising Glossary of Terms if anyone is interested...
I've added a historical figures guide, characters by affiliation, weapons, locations as well as a number of other updates. The glossary is near double it's previous length. Refer to the link below.
Well, progress has been rather slow for my current story, Destiny: Triumph of a Spellbinder, mostly because I've just gotten through a round of revisions. Me and my revisions.... Sheesh!
Recently I've resumed work on the final story in Ragnarok Rising and I've hit a small snag, I can't decide on a certain character's name .
Normally I don't have this problem. I'll generally pick a name and be satisfied with it, at least when I first chose it. Sometimes when a character evolves beyond the way in which I original envisioned I will change his/her name.
Well, maybe a few folks in these parts are wondering whether I'll ever finish the final story in my Ragnarok Rising trilogy and the answer is: YES! Hunger Pangs, my entry in the DRU universe is completed, but I decided to post it as a serial as a sort of test run for possible future serials and I'm rather pleased with the results. In particular I really enjoyed the more speculative comments. It's interest for me to see where people think the story might be headed.
Well I logged in this morning and noticed that I've been a member of BCTS a year now. I was a little surprised by this since that time seems to have flown by. There's something special about this place it's not just a place for posting stories it's a community and I'm really grateful to be a part of that. I'd like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome this last year.
As much as I hate to do this. I need to step back from Ragnarok Rising for a while. I do still plan on finishing the final story, but I've lost some of my enthusiasm for the story and I need to take a break so I can return to it with a fresh perspective.
But that doesn't mean I won't be writing. Far from it. In fact, I contacted EnemyofFun last night about writing in his Dark Realms Universe and he's agreed to let me write on a 'new' type of Unseen or 'monster'.
I'm curious what some of the usernames around here mean. I've seen a number of interesting aliases and wondered at the significance of them. A good portion of them I sure are just made up names which have no real meaning, but not all. So what is the significance of your username?
Why am I asking this? Well it's spurred by people's own curiosity over my own username. I've already been asked about it a number of times and I was asked again today.
Well, I've developed a few slang words for the final chapter in my Ragnarok Rising trilogy and I've become a bit conflicted on one particular slang word.
First, let me explain. The protagonist for this story is eighteen and I figured that he and his friends would be much more prone to using slang words than other previous characters. So I developed some terms like splurged, thatched, maer, frizz, and Rekk.
Okay well, Morpheus isn't actually here on BigCloset, but some of his stories will be shortly. I've attained permission from Morpheus to post them here. I'll likely be starting with his Legacy series. I probably won't post them very quickly (once a week tops). If you have any stories of his you'd like to see posted here give me a ring and I might be persuaded to post it. Also, I tend to be a little forgetful so if you don't hear from me in a while it might be a good idea to give me a good poking.
Okay, originally this was posted as part of another blog, but I didn't receive any responses concerning this matter. So, I'm re-posting it as it's own blog.
I'm curious what word processors people use. In the past I've used various incarnations of MS Word and WordPerfect, but I've since gone open source and went to OpenOffice.org and now LibreOffice.
Okay, well the 'fix' for Transfigured is moving along fine. The parallel stories idea just didn't seem to pan out as my muse was very uncooperative when I attempted to take this route. So, what form will the rewrite take? Aryanna will be the narrator of the entire story. She will tell Flint and Derek's stories. Thus far I've rewritten about a third of the story, but what I have rewritten may see some rather drastic changes so I would be surprised if the rewrite will be finished anytime soon.
Thought I'd post a quick update and tell everyone that the sequel to Incompatible is finished. As I mentioned before it's roughly half the length of incompatible at almost 12,000 words. Once the story is edited I will post it as soon as humanly possible.
For those that haven't read my previous blog entry, the title for this particular story will be 'Transfigured: Makings of a Spellbinder'.
