So last night I dreamed this huge guy was threatening people, so I went to him and said I'd shut him down if he didn't stop.
He loomed over me, and said "I'd like to see you try."
So I bear-hugged him so hard I think I broke something in his back.
He vanished.
So, what do you guys think. are huggles dangerous weapons?

To those not willing to receive them, they can be devastating. Their psyche isn't programed to receive love and it kind of short circuits the brain. A little like Spock in Star Trek, "I, Mudd" when he is trying to confuse an android:
... and the android short circuits trying to make logical sense of the illogical things Spock says.

For if Love fails, there will be no-one to write the history.

The Dhammapada is generally regarded as the closest we can ever come to The Historical Buddha's words.
Note Verse 5.
From: https://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/buddhism/dp01.htm, Ch 1, 1-5:
"The Dhammapada
Chapter 1, The Pairs
1. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with an impure mind a person speaks or acts suffering follows him like the wheel that follows the foot of the ox.
2. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with a pure mind a person speaks or acts happiness follows him like his never-departing shadow
3. "He abused me, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those who harbor such thoughts do not still their hatred.
4. "He abused me, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those who do not harbor such thoughts still their hatred.
5. Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal.

For your "Permanent Library", the Dhammapada is a 'good add'. I suggest getting two different translations. Then, when read side-by-side, they kind of 'moosh' into maybe a closer translation.

Buddhism does not (and probably can not) conflict with one's 'root faith'.
Some of the best contemporary Buddhist writers and teachers are also Jewish, Thich Nhat Hanh has written a book on Christianity and Buddhism. I've met a Jesuit Buddhist; a Catholic was in my former sangha, and I'm just some random atheist.
