how badly am I missing getting physical hugs?

Today I bought a toy octopus plushie.

I'm pretty sure that's on the list of COVID cabin fever symptoms.

Do they sell large plushies inspired by tentacle Anime? Perhaps you might like one of those.

You haven't been hugged until you've been hugged by a octopus,
seeing the fondness + appreciation in their bulbous, weirdly slitted eyes;
with eight arms to squeeze you like they never want to let you go,
and every sucker like a little kissing mouth...

Then they usually try to eat you, but until then it's wonderful.

No, not much...

The Hugs Collection Project

A Divine (*) Being, noting the suffering in the Human Realm caused by the Meat Plague (**) keeping people from sharing Hugs and such, took up a Mission.

She resolved to collect all the Hugs, Cuddles and similar that could not be shared, for fear of also sharing disease. She wanted to preserve them for delivery at a safer time. She flitted from place to place, south to north, east to west, and all places between. Each Cuddle, handshake and such, each Hug, She absorbed the squeeze into Herself.

Being Divine, She was able to reach into the Past, collecting un-shared Hugs and Cuddles from the start of the Plague. This filled Her with great sadness, as some could never be delivered in this Realm, because one or more of the participants had died.

As She continued, She became more and more weary, feeling heavier and heavier, and she seemed to be moving ever more slowly. Nonetheless, She persevered. Another Divine being, noting Her Mission and condition, became concerned for our Heroine, and intervened: “With all the hugging and squeezing you are absorbing … you need to stop. The sad and lonely humans have very nearly squeezed You into what they call neutron-star density, from which you cannot recover.”

Seeing this to be true, She very reluctantly had to abandon Her collection Mission.

This sadly has left us humans to muddle along on our own.

Teddy-Bear/Plushie promotions ...

This Plague-Year has been bad, all around.

Near the beginning of this year, I promoted a Teddy Bear (made by a dear friend) from Display Shelf, to On-Duty on my bed. And yes, I do ...

You just received a southern cousin hug, cousin. If yeh forgot it's more of a glomp until we's spots another kin. Or someone gets to giggling too much and the hugs desolve. Hard to hug and laugh too. Takes a whole new skill only the guys have mastered. The girl gits to giggling and squirming and they (guys) jests pulls em in tighter.

You're in crowded company. Seems most people need socializing in their life. Me? I'm hiding out, all the girls want their dresses back I borrowed.

I totally know what that feels like, I'd be lost some days while Martin is at work without my big stuffed spider and my stuffed kitties.

I get what you mean. Holding to a soft alternative seems a good plan. I don't know if it would work for everyone, but opening a store of remembered hugs, eyes closed is good for me. Octopus, hm? That's a lot of combinations of arms to put together.
