I am going for an endoscopy tomorrow, and I'm already struggling with anxiety.
Thanks to my PTSD, I have a gag reflex like nobody's business, and therefore the prospect of having a tube shoved down my throat doesn't exactly fill me with happiness.
hugs appreciated.

Of course you get hugs.
Of course you get hugs. Thursday, I took my wife, Norma, in and she had the same thing done. She wasn't thrilled about it either, but it's done, and over with. You'll be okay, Dot. I'm praying too.
Hugs!

Been there, done that ...
(Your experience may differ ...)
Nowadays, the medical people have some >Really Good Drugs<.
I needed same, about four years ago. They asked me to drink 3 little medicine cups of anesthetic (I seem to recall intervals of a few minutes.)
Number 3 put me under, and the next thing I remember is waking up with a sore throat.

Ask your medical people to explain what they are going to do, and how they are going to do it. Ask all the questions you need and want to.
Keep in mind, they know all about gag reflexes, and they don't want you to have problems that way - it's hard on the instruments ... :O :)
Good luck! I think you will be just fine with the testing.
Been there twice
and two colonoscopies AND two prostate biopsies. They'll likely do a general anaesthesia, so you should be okay. I have the same issues, and I completely understand. I suffer from acid reflux bad enough t0 back up into my nasal passages on occasion. Esophageal ulcers as well. Love to you!

Ohmigod! Gag me with a tube!
It obviously won't be pleasant but it sounds like something
you need to have done, and 24 hours from now the procedure
and all the anxiety about it will be in the past. But until then... HUGS!
And for something like this I don't think there's anything wrong with distracting
yourself with frivolous junk fiction to keep your mind off it, right up until walking
through the doors of the clinic (at that point in my experience nothing works,
certainly not their lousy magazines, because doctors + hospitals scare me worse
than even clowns!). And I hope they say "Looks good in there!" + just prescribe
you some inexpensive antacids or whatever. Do keep us informed.
~hugs again, Veronica

Try to Relax
I've had several endoscopies and I also have a significant gag reflex. You will get some kind of sedation (conscious or put to sleep) and they also numb the back of the throat. The anticipation is worse than the actual procedure. Best wishes.

Do not worry.
I have had 2 Endoscopy Prosedures so far and 1 Colonoscopy.
tThe endoscopy is nothing at all, you go in go to sleep and wake up in the recovery area. Quick and done.
The COLONOSCOPY much worse because of all the prep you have to do in advance. If my doctor tells me to do another Colonoscopy, I will say I am good just kill me now.
