“Next on the news, we now turn to an unusual campaign going on in a small, sleepy Oregon town called Eureka,” Kris Haze said. “A small group of young women, who call themselves ‘Jack Watch,’ are waging a campaign to attract readers for a fan fiction story called ’Eureka: The Day’s Not Over, Yet.’

“To explain, we have on the line a young lady from the town, and her name is Dawn Cameron.

“Good morning, Dawn. Welcome to the show.”

“Good morning, Kris!” a young woman in a t-shirt and glasses said, and smiled into the camera. “Thank you for having me.”

“So can you tell me about this campaign you and your friends are running?”

“No problem, Kris. We’re calling it “Kudos for Carter,” and it’s our goal is to get as many Kudos votes for Bobbi C’s wonderful story, ’Eureka: The Day’s Not Over, Yet.’

“What are Kudos, why are they important, and why now?”

“Well, the story is an entry in the BCTS contest called the Story Retention Contest. The winning story will be the one with the highest number of average “likes,” and Kudos votes are Like Votes. And we’re lobbying for votes so Bobbi’s story can win.”

“But why now?”

“Ahhh! That’s ‘coz Bobbi’s posting the last two episodes tonight and tomorrow night! So we need the votes! Have you read it, Kris?”

“Ah, no, not yet,” he said, embarrassed.

“Well, you should! It’s about our sheriff, Sheriff Carter, and…”

“I’m sorry, Dawn, but that’s all the time we have. Thank you for coming on to our show. Really appreciate it.”

“Thank you, Kris. And remember to read ’Eureka: The Day’s Not Over, Yet!’ The last two episodes will be up tonight and tomorrow night! And click the Kudos Button!” And Dawn was cut off in mid-speech.

Kris chuckled. “Well, talk about rabid fans,” he said to the camera. “That was Dawn Cameron, from the township of Eureka.” He turned to the announcer next to him.

“Have you heard of anything like that, Rachel?”

Rachel Maduff giggled. “They certainly are enthusiastic,” she said. “What were they again? ‘Kudos?’”

“Yep. ‘Kudos.’ So. Rachel. What do you have for us today?”

“Well, Kris, a new crisis is brewing in the capital today, as…”
