What kind?
I had a Basel cell skin cancer removed. The dermatologist said that that is the least troublesome skin cancer and they almost always get it all on the first pass.
Melanoma is another story. Hope it's not that.

Dorothy, was your mom a farm lady or outdoors woman?
My dad's dad had a couple minor operations in his seventies or eighties for suspected skin cancer. He was a life long farmer and outdoors person.
He died of heart failure in his nineties.
We have an elderly member of our local Doctor Who club who lost an ear to skin cancer many years ago. He's a retired US Airforce engine mechanic and thus spent a lot of time outdoors in the tropics and such.
Proof skin cancer can be beaten with due vigilance. Best of luck to your mom.

So
It went well I hope.
I know my maternal grandpa went through this 4 times, before he passed away from age. It sounds scary since it is cancer, but it is usually a fairly easy operation with a great success rate. The metastasizing of internal cancers isn't as common so it is easier to get it all.
My grandpa also had diabetes to complicate, it still worked well for him.
Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.
Prayers with your Mom...
May she do well coming through the surgery. May God's healing go beyond the surgery and remove nay cancer in her system.

My sister had some melanoma
My sister had some melanoma removed from her arm earlier this year. It was an office visit and what they did was freeze the area and cut it out.
I hope and pray for your mom's complete and speedy recovery.
