Well, yesterday I got berated for an hour by my aunt saying I neglected my grandmother and now I'm killing my mother.

I think my aunt's comments hit me harder than I realized. I struggled all night at work with feeling worthless, feeling like the world would be better off without me.

Comments

A question.

Is this the same aunt as before?

If so, respond to her, and ask her why she is doing nothing for her sister, or sister-in-law. (I am not sure her relation to your mother.)

Believe in yourself

I heard a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that you need to take to heart: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent".

It can be easy to believe that you are not doing enough when you know that there is more to be done. But if you are doing all you can do, then you need to tell yourself that and not let your aunt beat you up. Like a previous comment said, what is your aunt doing to help?

Another suggestion.

If it is your aunt that keeps calling you, to make you feel bad. Call block her phone number. Have nothing to do with her.

rights vs privileges

Your Aunt has the right to have an opinion, and the right to express it.

Has she earned the privilege of having her opinion matter to you?
From the sound of it, she is one of those who lives for tearing others down, not the type of person whose opinion should matter in my opinion.

Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.

question

is your mother talking to your aunt and telling about all her troubles to relieve emotional stress and your aunt is getting the wrong picture. maybe you could tell her what you are doing and what limits you have that keep you from doing more and what can she do to help you do more. if she does nothing to help then tell her that her complaints are causing you to help your mom even less. so she can be part of the solution or stop being part of the problem.
