well, yesterday I went to the doctor's about my foot, and my 2nd worst fears have been confirmed. My worst fear was that it was cancer, which it isn't, but my second-worst fear was that they would tell me there's nothing more they can do for me, and that's what's happened. Apparently, they don't think surgery is a good choice because the risks of nerve damage, so basically, I can try to stuff a pad into my shoe and hope that helps, and otherwise, I get to just live with it.

Ah, well. with my gender issues, I already knew I wasn't gonna ever be pain free anyway ...

What chronic pain is like. I don't wish it on anyone. Especially foot pain, it always seems like when your feet hurt, your whole body hurts.

*big hug* Feel better!

Good shoes

In our part of the world, we have a store called "The Good Feet Store." They specialize in orthopedic fittings. I had a friend who has one leg shorter than the other and that caused all kinds of problems which he tried to solve with pads under the short leg. He went there and it turned out that there were other things that could be addressed with special shoes. In a weeks time he was feeling much better.

So, if putting a pad in your shoe seems to help, then you might want to look for a similar shoes store in your area.

Just a thought.

Hugs
Patricia

I wish you well

I wish you well. I know some of what you are going through. I have fibermalalgia in the soles of my feet, microfaractures in my right ankle, arthritic left knee, a hole in my bottom left heal that gives me pain if I stand on it (healing), no (0) toes and my left ankle and right knee also occasionally have pain.

I had an 80+ YO friend at my last synagogue that told it was no fun getting old.
I told her the other choice is worse.

What I discovered being handicapped is that I am a potential instrument of G-d's grace. When someone helps me through a door or gets a motorized cart for me that person is doing an act of kindness. That is part of what G-d wants.

Yes, we need to grin an bare it.
