Perhaps you could lift Pat's sermon from 'Cold Feet', the one about being the best you can. It also refers to hare lips and surgeons.
Read Through Essays and Stories
I suggest you read through the stories and essays that are true commentaries on our "condition." "Shoes" by Heather Rose Brown and my essays "Devar Torah Shofteem: You Are Drunk Without Wine" and my "Based on a Conversation" series are recommended. Also in "Based on a Conversation" 1 there are some story and essay references. I know there are other references you can access here. Perhaps someone could recommend them.
