I am glad to see that you have found a United Church to visit. As I belong to an LGBT adult group held in an affirming United church in a Montreal suburb, our group was asked to help with meal organizations for a Canada wide conference of church people who were trying to learn what were the steps to make their churches affirming ones as is the church where we hold our get togethers. The concept of being an affirming church is to welcome diverse members to their congregations. I met a couple from Edmonton at the event who were supposed to send me their email addy so we could correspond but I haven't received an address.

Out of curiosity you might enquire if the particular church you visited had any members attending the conference in the Montreal area last August & if so did they met Ruth.

I will be attending my annual "Crew" meeting in Prince George in May and will stop to see the only relatives that I know in Sherwood Park & Edmonton on the way to Prince George.
