I had a moment today that a lot of trans women can probably relate to, and almost no non-trans ones can.
I was shopping with my mom, and she went to the bathroom, and I felt like I needed to visit as well, but I was slightly intimidated about using the ladies room. Eventually I went in and did what I needed to do, and had no problems, but that moment of fear is something I'd never have to deal with if I was born with the right equipment.
Ah, well.

I usually end up looking for single bathrooms with doors that lock or what is called family bathrooms.

I had gone to Yosemite with a couple of friends, one of them a BCTS author. I was dressed pretty much androgynously, but with a bra and my bust showing. I had mt friends scout out the ladies room and make sure nobody was in there, went in and did my business. But I was a bit scared someone would come in and trap me there. It didn't happen, but ...
A few months later I was in Pennsylvania with the same friend when I really came out for the first time, as I made myself known to those around me, most of whom are also trans. But for that reason, I was not afraid, and after the four days of really being ME for the first time, I haven't been bothered with being afraid.
But the first time or times can be a bit scary, I admit.
The wonderful thing though, is having stalls, rather than just open urinals. I can imagine being F to M, and going in to find no available stalls, or stalls with no doors ...

Like someone said to me once. The bathroom at home doesn't say his or hers so why should public ones.
Fun times on holiday
Quite a few of the ones we found while on holiday in France are unisex. Problem is, the other holidaymakers sometimes don't realise... I came out of a cubicle once and this woman nearly fainted.
It varies from place to place, of course, so we were very careful to check the signs to ensure we didn't end up in the wrong one!

Getting Rumbled In the LOO!
Well, I have had bad things happen twice, in the same shopping center, in the same Loo. One time was by a rotund old lady with her own problems. I was so shocked I told her to call the police! The other time was by this weird transigent person. Security came and hauled His Weirdness off.
Now days, even when I am traveling I just do my thing and get out. No one has bothered me at all, even in UTAH!

I've been using the ladies room since 2000 when I transitioned for a short period. Then in 200 six I had no difficulty with the ladies room. I pass and no one has ever asked to see my genitalia. I somehow always end up at Walmart with a bladder that needs to be emptied. I go, do my thing, wash my hands, check my makeup and hair then leave.
There was a time that I would wait until I got home. I just knew there was a neon sign above me signifying I was not what I appeared to be. So once I made my first foray into the ladies room, I've never stopped since.

my fear is my ex
My biggest fear is the first time I may have to go into a public restroom with my Ex. She is still unable to use my femme name or even understand that I identify as female. Somehow, she has decided that the hormones are good because they have eliminated my depression, but the feminizing side-effects freaks her out. But when it happens, I will just brave my way through it.
The one thing I am sure of is that I will be fine once it is over with.

Consequently I always have a bit on me just in case though sometimes it is needed to line the seat. Of course since I am post-op I can just hover if necessary.
For a pre-op, the real problem are stall doors that don't close properly due to a bad latch or a latch that barely holds and will let go when the next stall over shakes the door and makes the door swing free.
And then there is a little kid with her mommy who peeks between the stall doors at the wrong time or you have a woman looking for a stall looking at just the wrong time.

Businesses and what have you that don't provide a disabled toilet really take the piss!

disabled toilets! Im sure they are in enough pain as it is :D Find one that isn't as bad off to use :)
