Got called a "monster" by some kids at Sam's school today, and a kid was told, "Look out, its headed your way."
I have no idea where this came from, or what I could have possibly done to deserve that, but it kinda hurt.

It's just perceptions and kids are notoriously cruel, Dorothy.
You are what you are, and they have been taught that such a thing is unnatural.
Kids that age rarely look beyond the surface and what they have been fed by parents, church, or whatever.

Don't go with preconceptions!
For kids any adult and 80% of older kids will qualify as monster if it will hit they fancy.
If it was something else they would use much nastier qualifiers.
To be called monster by contemporary kid is almost a compliment as monsters are cool!
Don't pay attention to kids.
They had some game going on and coming of the monster was necessary at the moment. So any adult would qualify :-)
Kids can be cruel without intending to be so. Kids can say things because these things fit some game going on. My nieces/nephews called me some nasty names because I'm not exactly slender :-) (and right after receiving some nice presents they still playing with year later...)
My point is that for kids 100%-2 of adults will qualify as monsters :-)

All in all, they are kids. Kids I take it that you don't even know, so what do you care. The other day while walking down the street some black kid told me to get off his block because I was a racist (which I am not), I didn't let it bother me though because a) it wasn't true and b) what do i care, he doesn't have impact on my life.

They were kids! Monster is a cool thing with contemporary kids. Are you not aware of Moshi monsters that are a rage among kids in UK?
So if any kid will call me "monster" I will be glad :-)

I really do think the most innocent theory is the best one most of the time. In this case, that the kids were playing a game and Dot was unwittingly involved is a very convincing theory. The kids were probably more hurt by Dot's reaction than Dot was accidentally hurt by the kids attempt to include her in their playing. Especially if they were seeing her as being a "mommy" figure - they expect mommies to play their little games eagerly.
Though I can certainly understand why Dot DID react the way she did, I really don't think the kids meant any harm by it. Not this time, at least.

Dorothy, How were you presenting at the time? As Dorothy/As your male embodiment) or somewhere in between? Is your predicament/situation known at her school? Do you know the kids? Are they friends of Sams or perhaps kids who B/bully her? How old are the kids?
I think all of these questions need to be answered and analyzed before any answer to your inquiry can be made.
The possibilities are endless. It can be a silly kids game. Part of an attack on Sam, by attacking her parent. Or it can be what you fear.
But analyze the situation first before you get upset.
