I have some holiday over the Easter period and although I have list of chores as long as my arm I'm hoping to do some extra writing as well. I'd rather like to move Snafu on towards a conclusion, although that will require more than one episode, but I might manage the next one.
Once upon a time, I expected most of my stuff to receive double figures in comments and vie with the best in the then voting system. Things have changed and sometimes I only get a handful, although my core readership remains about the same so I still enjoy entertaining them with my scribbles.
Yeah, okay it's from the Mail again, there was one from CBS but it didn't have piccies.
Anyway, some brave souls in Alaska do an annual walk in women's shoes to highlight sexual assaults on women. I should say, they're all men and they walk a mile.
Archaeologists in the Czech Republic have discovered an unusual Bronze Age burial, where a man was buried like a woman. Of course the Daily Wail has made the most of it with the usual sort of nonsense, but the pictures and the facts which haven't been distorted are interesting.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, is Gabi's funeral, although everyone will be celebrating her life as her male name. I have a long drive to get there for 10.30 am BST but I'll do my best to get there.
Afterwards I'm going to walk along the Ridgeway Path, to see the White Horse of Uffington and Wayland's Smithy, both of which are prehistoric monuments. I'm sure Gabs would approve of my taking some time to reflect upon things before driving home.
Sorry, left early to see my daughter and ex this morning and got home too late to make it a good idea. Apologies to my regular readers, but I had a nice day out. It was quite funny how we still fit stereotypes - I fixed up some curtain poles and repaired her shed window while she shortened some jeans for me. The only difference being, I could have done my own jeans but she couldn't do the DIY stuff.
Then had a couple of hours playing mall bunnies with my daughter followed by dinner with her and my ex and the long drive home in the dark. In the words of the prophet - I am knackered.
According to my account, I've been a member here for four years and three hours. Earlier on I'd noticed it was three years and fifty two weeks--that's like being five feet twelve. I suppose the 'puter decides it's four years when the same time of day is reached as the original enrolling time.
Goodness, four years, I was young and innocent then - now I'm old and innocent, ho hum.
A report in today's Guardian about a gay character in a Malaysian film who has a sex-change to please his/her boyfriend and then regrets it before falling in love with a girl.
I'm sorry to confirm that my suspicions were correct last night and Gabi was found dead by the neighbours I'd asked to check on her. I don't yet know cause of death, but I suspect that it was a heart attack.
I have lost a dear friend and very good editor. I'm just hoping I can get to the funeral as it's a couple of hour's drive from here.
My commiserations to all her e-friends on this site who will be very saddened by this news at least I had the pleasure of meeting Gabi a couple of times and hundreds of hours of telephone conversations.
Just after I wrote tonight's episode of Bike, I phoned Gabi, who likes to hear them before I post them and frequently makes useful comments. Tonight, Gabi didn't sound very well, and said she was going to lay on the bed and would phone me back in a few minutes. I waited half and hour and she hadn't called back and when I tried calling her, no answer.
A few weeks ago, as if by premonition, she gave me her next door neighbour's number - I called them and after some confusion over key safe numbers, they managed to gain access to Gabi's house in rural Oxfordshire.
The universe seems to be dropping great piles of poo on me from a great height. First, work has been a bitch, then I get the cold which leaves me with the cough for weeks.
Last weekend I had trouble with the gears on my bike and it might ultimately mean new gear/brake levers - they're not cheap.
It seems a TS author who wrote a play about Jesus returning to earth as a transsexual has been awarded a literary grant for further researches of transsexualism in the Bible. As may be imagined, it's got some people frothing in their sporrans.
For those of you who haven't preserved my perfect prose in hard copy, this is what you're missing. EAFOAB up to last weekend's edition. I'm simply waiting for the cover to be added, could be a bit heavy to take on the train or read in bed. Oh this is just volume one.
It seems that a British woman has died after having a questionable medical procedure done in a hotel in the US. Given that most of us who entered 'femaleness' after puberty may be slightly lacking in the hip area, do beware of anything involving silicone - it's very dangerous stuff. I remember seeing it being done to young Brazilian trannies years ago and wonder how many are still alive now?
...I will have been a member here for four years. One wonders if Erin had known then how much I would clog up her servers whether she'd have told me to go hike? I doubt it, because this is essentially a friendly place, which she works hard to maintain and which was brought home recently to me. As many of you will know, I've had a real snorter of a cold, which has left me quite a bit under par. The number of well wishers has been very gratifying and humbling.
George Dubbya's daughter, Barbara, a leading republican, has done a video calling for legalisation of gay marriage. See link below and hopefully her video too.
Tomorrow, assuming I don't fall off my ego, bike or high heels, should see the posting of part 1250 and we can then have a whole pile of new statistics from PS, about how many million words and so on, which I find fascinating if a little daunting.
It's about James who became Lauren and the dysfunctional family around her. In short they're all barking mad but some of you might find it interesting. Sadly, they also come from my home town.
The Bonz sends his Yuletide greetings to all the cats out there who read his ramblings and Izzy is busy (Yes, I know Bizzy Izzy) sorting the menu for today.
It took me nearly two hours to get home tonight (8 miles) due to the snow. It looks like the ridgeway hill between Weymouth and Dorchester is blocked, so I had to do a detour on ungritted roads - not nice, nearly ran into a ditch at one point. I also seem to have done something to my ABS and have a warning light staying on, although the brakes still work, not that I use them much in snow if I can help it.
