I wish I could prepare people
It makes me really sad to see my sisters suffer so. No one, not one single person tried to warn me in 2004 that coming out would be so destructive. It has been years now, and my daughters won't speak at all. My son speaks to me but in such a way that I wish he wouldn't. My X, I have not heard from since I was thrown out and she got with some bitch, feminist, counselor that convinced her that I could hurt her. What the hell!
I try to tell you ladies that this will probably hurt like hell, but no one listens! What the hell am I supposed to do with this? Some few, like a couple, have had better results with their families, and believe me if you are not just the most thankful people on the planet, I would like to whack you with a bat.
A couple people have even confronted me, telling me that it is so hard and asking why I did not warn them? What am I supposed to do with that? Can you understand even remotely how much that hurts me also???
Frankly, if you are her friend, then you need to be there for her like so many have been there for you. Forget offering advice, that is so male ! Just commiserate with her in the most loving way you can. Who knows maybe being sympathetic about someone else's suffering will help you to grow yourself. It usually does. And, brace your self for a lot of your own tears. Remember her suffering is not about YOU, it is about her, and her friends need to show compassion full stop!

The holidays can be tough when things go badly, and I cannot imagine how bad it would be to have your family reject you at any time. Remember you have friends and family here. Try to keep your spirits up and hope for a better tomorrow.
