Well, my brother has made some moves toward us moving past some of the hurts from the past. It all started when I sent him a message thanking him for coming to my poetry reading, and I talked about something he had mentioned at the time, that he felt like he was mourning the death of his brother Todd. I said that if you want to think of it that way, Todd laid down his life so I could live, so he was a hero.
Apparently, either that comment or just me thanking him was enough to get him interested in seeing me more often, and he sent me a message saying "I love you. Would like to get together for a movie soon."
We worked out the details, and its this coming Monday, so wish me luck ....

My girlss have made a similar comment.
I actually understand very well how they feel. Of course, my take is they can have a dead Uncle Bill or a live Aunt Wendy. I didn't say that out loud (I think). Sometimes my mental censor doesn't work very well I'm afraid.
Right now I'm giving them space and time.
My boy has been solidly behind me. It has made a huge difference.

Everybody has there own way of reconciling change within them selves. We are biological thus illogical in our reasoning. But in that chaos we do many times find the way to solve our internal conflict that digital logic could never accomplish. Congratulations to you that an important family member in your life found the love for you that allowed them to reach out to you in a new way. It was there issue but in this case the bird returned,

Sounds hopeful, but
take small steps slowly. Then it's easier to correct a step if you put a foot wrong.
Good luck though. I never found a closer friend than my long lost brother of 52 years separation. It can work you see.

What a great way of looking at it

Best of luck! Hopefully,
Best of luck! Hopefully, things will continue to improve with your brother. His comment about mourning the loss of Todd is more common than I would have first thought. I have one friend who was rather cool to me (not hostile, just distant) for a while after transition. She later apologized, saying she'd liked the old male shell I wore, and she blamed me for killing off that friend of hers. She later realized I was still, in some ways, right before her, and it was only herself that was keeping us from being friends again. Maybe your brother is having the same sort of revelation? Anyway, good luck, again!
