My long awaited complaint to the NHS about my 11 years of waiting has now gone in the mail and should reach them on Tuesday. I have paid for tracking so will get confirmation.
The key feature of the complaint is the gatekeeper interview in 2012 that achieved nothing despite referral being authorised.
I have asked for answers to the following:
(i) Is my treatment reasonable?
(ii) How can I regain my trust in the local NHS?
(iii) Why has a Bridging Prescription not been offered?
(iv) Have the Tavistock & Portman Trust been informed about the referral from 2012?
(v) How do I recover the lost years?
(vi) Have my protected characteristics under the Equality Act actually been protected?
Obviously UK law & medical practice applies here.

Not sure when, but I thought I saw on the News that the Tavistock clinic had closed down. Though you may know more about it than me.

Regional centres
The Nottingham Trust has been running a regional centre for a while and this includes an out station at Cambridge - which covers my area. In practical terms, when I was (finally) referred to T&P I was also placed on the Nottingham/East-of-England list.

Part 3 of Beginnings is over half written so that's next, concluding that prequel series. As for after that, uncertain which project comes first.
I had to wait as well
It was five years after doing my life test, I was cancelled by CCH after being given a date for surgery. I admit that was about 1985/6 when they went into meltdown, but the NHS is in such a mess because the Tories would like to see it fail despite it being the only good thing this country has achieved. I hope they can do something for you soon.

The sticking point throughout all of this has been my GP. Unfortunately there's a shortage of GPs and absolutely no chance of changing unless I move towns! And, yes, that's an option. My GP has several times recently paid lip service to requests that she looks for a way forward, then nothing happens. I document everything so my complaint includes all the letters we exchanged and a transcript of a recent telephone call. I have given the local NHS board a way out but somehow doubt they'll pick it up!
The local regional clinic is working through December 2020 referrals so I can assume that nothing will happen for at least 18 months down that line but will my Equality Act issue force a reconsideration of where I am in that queue? Maybe, but I'm not holding my breath. Ultimately I may have to sit quietly but that's not my style - I can write some evil letters and smile as I hand it over.

Is it the only path
shiraz, is there not a work around rather than through the NHS? Not from England so I have no advice or knowledge to share that will be relevant. Have no idea what NHS is nor what you seek their approval for. But if you're trying to set a new record for patience, twelve year wait is probably it. The push for what you want may come from someone higher up in the food chain? I'm guessing, an MD, a Social Worker, a Lawyer? Do you have those in politics like senators or congressmen? A politician who represents your district? The best way to overcome an obstinate roadblock is to go around it.

For everyone in the U.S. the next thing will be requiring all trans to wear identifying clothing, maybe implants that can be scanned? Contacted one TV station and offered to talk about transgender and why
we exist. Same as with my legislature, crickets. They can exterminate every single trans, as soon as more babies are born, sixty percent of one percent will be transgender.
New state bills restrict transgender health care — for adults
Until now, most legislation banning gender-affirming care targeted minors. This year, a growing number of bills would also limit access for adults. Some states are cutting off all medical for any age, others for anyone younger than twenty six. Texas wants neighbors spying on neighbors, God help the family if the boy puts on a dress. They will be persecuted and prosecuted.
I promise with all my heart and soul, transgender is not a sin. It's God's gift. Want proof? Talk to Him! What one does with that gift is up to the individual.

Hate Propaganda is Working
This is what comes from daily input of hate towards transgender. The mind slowly starts to believe transgender is trash and should be dealt with. Trans woman was slugged in the testicles by a TSA agent who berated her in public.

To all my brothers and sisters, I don't have an answer for this kind of abuse coming from a Security Officer. If one defends themselves it's jail time. The officer is always right..., always.
I guess we are like the Jews in WWII, Germany, and all the conquered nations. Too many are being taught to hate us. Maybe the Armenian Genocide would be comparable if this keeps going.

I do have private cover as well but the scheme (Benenden) does not provide Gender Identity Clinics or surgery. I asked.
