not mine but the Queens Platinum edition of course!

Here on these rocks off the north west coast of Europe we've been celebrating this week, the Queen, HRH Elizabeth the Second has celebrated 70 years on the throne. That's quite unprecedented, even Victoria only sat for 63 years and in a few days only Louis XIV of France will have reigned longer, to celebrate we've had an extra Bank Holiday day tacked onto the traditional Whitsuntide edition giving the 'workers' a long weekend. There have of course been celebrations, parties, concerts, events kicked off on Thursday by Trooping the Colours and a huge fly past in London with an appearance by the Queen and (in theory) the next three monarchs of these rocks.

The weather has been mostly dry which is a surprise as it often rains this week, well Bank Holidays always jinx the weather!

So what have i been up to? Well not what i had intended. After visiting Angharad on Wednesday i became ill with some flu like symptoms, not serious but enough to throw me off my game, my intended long ride on Thursday was a complete non starter, instead i ended up watching Trooping the Colours with Aunty Bev before taking a short walk. Friday was better but i was still feeling off but i dragged my velocipede out and took a slow ride to a local plant nursery before getting lunch anf riding the 6 miles back. Just for the record, i bought a couple of strawberry plants so we now have six, we might just get a punnet full!

I was feeling better come Saturday but i delayed my ride to avoid some damp, setting off late morning, any pretentions to a properly long ride gone with the delay. A stiff wind kept the temperature low as i embarked on a twisty and quite vertical avoidance of Bath before looping around to Chippenham where i stopped for a cuppa and bacon roll. It warmed up a bit after that and eventually i got the wind more behind me as i started to head back to Cabotville. I had been aiming for a Platinum Jubilee ride, ie 70 miles, in the final counting i made it to 73 stacked with 1280m of ascent, combined with the wind, a pretty stiff days activity.

Which brings us to today, I need to go get some shopping once i've done here, its a cool, grey day in these parts, i won't be venturing far. What i have done is posted the next Fame chapter, thats #23, Song Bird. The girls shop the big bike shop before hitting the town then its back to Bonn for the concert. Will she? won't she? Whatever, she does have some kickin' new bike shoes!

Well that's it for now, time for my walk, i'll be back with more ramblings on Wednesday,
Tak,
Madeline Anafrid

Minor quibble

Elizabeth was only HRH before she was crowned.

Afterwards, of course, she is Her Majesty.

The title

Maddy Bell's picture

Of address is irrelevant, ascension to the status of Regent is what counts, there is almost always some delay between ascension and the public act of coronation.

Congratulations

We do things differently in the US. To become royal you simply must tell a whopper of a lie again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. . ..

Plus...

- Deny ever saying anything other than 'I am the greatest ever and know more about everything than anyone alive or dead'
- Throw your loyal servants under the bus at the first opportunity
- Never be held accountable for anything
- Rely on the millions that have been brainwashed into thinking that you are some sort of diety to propel you back into power
- Whereupon all your enemies and former friends who were not loyal enough are tried for Treason and Hung.
Oh and
- Tear up the constitution and the big ugly blue book of federal laws.

(I am joking... seriously)
