has been sweeping the South West, at least its not too cold!
But the weather is the least of things this week.
I'm sure you are all aware that the Dormouse lady, Angharad, has had a stroke this week, I know many of you have sent hugs her way which i'm sure she appreciates. At the moment she doesn't need for anything and is doing okay, as we find out more - and if Angharad is okay with it, i'll let you know.
I've known Angharad for @ 20 years, she's been a good friend to me and i plan on repaying some of that now.
Having seen several friends struck down in the same way i know the next weeks and months will be hard and recovery won't always be linear or even assured. Hopefully we'll get the old Angharad back but nothing is guaranteed in this life except its end.
To other matters then.
Well on Monday i took myself off to Sweden ostensibly for some more appropriate storage for my in use camping gear but i got some lunch whilst i was there. This is on the back of Sundays activities of course, with my trip to GOC fast approaching i thought i should a) find, b) check i had everything and c) try everything out and confirm it was okay. Like a lot of stuff that's been in 'storage' the last couple of years, it wasn't where i thought or in what i thought so it took a bit of finding before i was able to use our handkerchief of grass to try everything out. And the good news is that everything is as it should be so i'm nearly set for the trip north - indeed i'm getting quite excited.
Tuesday is of course a regular bike day and with a more westerly wind forecast i thought i'd take a trip to Weston Super Mare as i'd not been this month. Its a ride that you can make very easy or a bit more testing depending on your mood and choice of route and yesterday i was feeling somewhere in the middle. A bit of a slog on the almost level way out did at least promise an easier ride back after lunch, tempered of course by a somewhat more physical route on the return. There are still a few little niggles with Foxy but i should have them mostly sorted by the weekend.
And that's pretty much that, this morning we've had the tail of the wet weather go through, its still a bit windy but at least i should stay dry when i go for a walk this afternoon!

In the Uk
We can shop around Europe, Sweden aka IKEA, Iceland is a frozen food store and Germany usually tagged to Lidl but also to Aldi.
Not that I haven’t been to Sweden but that’s a bit far for lunch!

An acquaitance of mine for a while worked in Gothenburg (Sweden) and once she and a colleague flew to Paris for lunch and then back.
Some background information: They worked for an airline and, availability permitting, they could fly for 10% of the normal price.
as a kid
it wasn't unkown for my parents to announce after Sunday lunch that we were going to Pickering for tea. At the time we lived some @ 275km away near Northampton (the real one)and much of the distance to North Yorkshire was on ordinary 2 lane roads, journey time could be close to 4 hours each way allowing for toilet stops etc. We'd eat then drive back.
Later, after we moved to GOC, it was a regular Sunday drive to York, over an hour away for Sunday lunch.
Can't say why we went so far, there was perfectly good food with a lot less travel involved but thats what we did.
