Was just reading an article on BBC Internet that indicated a Transgender (MTF) woman was beaten, and handcuffed in Bangkok, Thailand. I had my SRS there in July of 2007 and it seemed that everyone was very friendly. SRS is still around $12,000 and here in the US it can go over $100,000. Sadly, now it seems that the neighborhood is gone to pot. (not weed)
In ACEH, Malaisia, for a very long time there was a very moderate branch of Islam there. Now, perhaps that is not the case. Thailand and Malaysia are relatively close to each other. Asian Muslims and now perhaps World wide, except perhaps for Iran seem increasingly hostile toward Transgender folk, especially if they wear Abaya and Hijab. They do not recognize T folk and feel that for them to wear those garments is offensive.
The subject of this article has apparently taken refuge in Austrailia.
So far, I feel safe where I live and do not know if that is because I pass, or if people here are nice?

Both!
Sweetie.
I think you worry too much, Gwen. I, on the other hand, am so out of it that someone could kill me and I wouldn't even know. (Not really.)
I think I kind of pass, but I just look old and ragged out. People are friendly or they ignore me. I try and be polite and friendlyish myself.
Hugs and Bright Blessings,
Renee
