Have you ever a blast while failing? I tried to make a home-made pizza with Sam, and even though the pizza itself was a flop, it was a hoot for me, and I hope for Sam as well.

Can you fail with a pizza? Well unless you overcook it! It's basically cheese on toast after all, lol

Trying?

You weren't trying to do the Bisquick and yeast crust, were you? That can be a bit tricky if not watching what are doing.

no there is a box pizza kit

all you add to the package is water to turn it into dough. I think the fact we didn't have a proper cover for the bowl meant it didn't rise right, and I think I added a bit too much water.

Sometimes ...

... it ain't the thing you're doing, but the person you're doing it with, that makes an experience fun. :)

Carrying on with the cooking theme...

I made some bread last Saturday. Oat and Spelt. Everything was working out fine. Until... fifteen minutes into baking, it collapsed. No, I didn't open the oven door.
I have not had that happen for a long time. Tastes good though.

Sometimes... the best-laid plans and all that then along comes sod.

Any time

Any time spent doing things with your kids is a good time. Your daughter will remember this in the years to come an laugh about it as she recounts it to others. I know now that my kids have grown kids of their own, I'm often amazed at the things they (my kids) remember with fondness from their childhood. The bring up the most mundane things and smile as they talk about it.

As to failing, you didn't fail. To paraphrase Tomas Edison, you just discovered one more way not to make pizza crust.

(When asked how he could persevere and make the light bulb when he had failed 1000 times. He said that he didn't fail 1000 time, he learned 1000 ways not to make the light bulb.)

Time

Spending time failing to make pizza with your daughter was precious. You're her mother, no matter if you gave birth to her or not. As a mother myself, I cherish every day I get with my boys before they leave home finally. They're 18 and 20 now, so it won't be long. My youngest is probably joining the Air Force soon to become an airplane mechanic, and my oldest has already told us he's moving out soon, so I have at most a few months left with the both of them at home.

Even spending an evening eating leftovers and watching old TV shows together is a moment I cherish because all too soon I know it'll be gone and I'll miss them. There are no wasted moments when you spend them with someone you love unconditionally.

I am so happy you get these moments, Dorothy! I know there was a time that you thought you never would. You deserve them and so much more!
