Heartbweakuh...

by Andrea Lena DiMaggio

Two figures stood in the middle of what looked like a darkened sound stage.

"Mr. Roarke? You're sure this will work?"

"But of course, Mr. Ragazzo. I feel compelled, however, to remind you that given certain conditions present in your DNA, once the fantasy begins there is no turning back. You will remain whom you will have become."

"I don't care, Mr. Roarke...I've dreamed about this since I was a little boy growing up in Brooklyn. To be a famous Rock Star from the 80s."

"Well, if that is what you are sure you want? As you step out the door, your new life begins. One last time, I caution you that this will forever be your life going forth."

"I don't care... Hit me with your best shot..." Albert Ragazzo stepped through the door, and found himself standing in a roomy if dimly lit recording studio.

"Wow...he really did it!" Albert smiled but somehow things felt off.

"I don't... Wait! What the fuck is going here?" He winced as he heard his own voice.

"This isn't what I wanted," he said, but his voice sounded high and he had a slight lisp. He started walking around in circles in a panic; stopping suddenly as he saw his reflection in the large window of the darkened sound room.

"OH shit!" He cried as his hand went to examine his body... clad in very tight leather pants with a black and white striped top under a black jacket to go with small if cute breasts. His hair was reddish brown and arranged in a loosely curled shag..

"Oh shit!" He sobbed. Even as the protest left his lips he felt the overwhelming urge to pose in front of his reflection.

"No!" he...she screamed; terrified if vocalized in an absolutely astounding four octave range.

"This isn't what I wanted," she cried. Roarke walked out of the shadows and used his arm in a broad gesture to indicate the frightened woman's reflection in the window.

"I am sorry if you misunderstood, but you did not specify whom you wished to be...only that the person would have to have been from Brooklyn like yourself!"

"But I'm...I'm a girl."

"Yes indeed. That you are, just as the fantasy was requested."

"Buh...buh...but... I didn't ask foh this...."

"Well, actually no. you did not, but someone else asked for it."

"Someone else? Who?" The woman seemed to calm down as Roarke rubbed her shoulder and pointed to the sound booth as the lights suddenly came on. revealing a not quite physically unfamiliar figure who never the less waved enthusiastically.

"You see, with the package you chose, you did not stipulate it was yours alone, as the form required. She,” he said, pointing to the other woman,

“Was not merely a ‘player,’ but a participant as well.”

"You... this isn't faih!"

"I assure you it is fair from the perspective of your co-adventurer....And since she paid for it, by the way, whom you see her to be is her fantasy, just as is whom you have become is also her fantasy."

"But...."

Albert....Allie Ragazzo wept softly as the figure walked out of the sound room and waved that enthusiastic wave of hers.... Mrs. Sally Ragazzo, also of course from Brooklyn, New York, kissed her now rock star wife on the lips and laughed.

"Hi, sweetie! Pretty cool, huh?" She looked at Roarke with a shrug.

"Pretty cool, indeed Mrs. Ragazzo."

"I..thought...Fuck!...Some dweammakuh you tuhned out to be! This is probably the worst fantasy evuh on Fantasy Island." Allie whimpered.

"Oh. Ms. Ragazzo...this is not Fantasy Island....That place closed down years ago. This is The Twilight Zone… And this was submitted for your wife's approval, of course."

Sally Ragazzo turned once again to Roarke and smiled.

"Nice touch with the black and white!"

She then faced her new wife again and shrugged,

"Well? I do like Rock and Roll?"

And in that moment, Allie Ragazzo essentially fulfilled Sally Ragazzo's dream and began her new life as she started at E3 and shot all the way up to B5 with her very first

"No...No...Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
