If you are a fan of transformation fiction, or just good science fiction, you've probably have at least heard of Jack L. Chalker. Well, I found a book by him that could have easily been written here.

It's called "The Identity Matrix", and its the story of Victor Gosner, a 35 year-old expert in political science who finds himself body swapped with a 13 year old native American girl, and then into the body of a blonde bombshell co-ed.

I found the characters charming, the situation engaging, and the book really hard to put down, so it gets a recommendation from me.

Oh, Yeah!

I've read it several times, its really a good story! There is another one, I believe its also by him. In it, time travel is possible, but only of energy, not of mass. So when you travel back in time, you actually take over some random person's body. Young or old, male or female, what you get is what you get. There are a few other "gotcha" things, but you have to read it, I'm not gonna give them away.

I've got the book around here somewhere but I can't find it and I can't remember the name. Sorry.

Bingo!

Yep, that's it. Another good read, but not at all even being close to lighthearted.

Jack L Chalker

Jack L Chalker has more of a BC connection than you think. He did a Q and A on BC in the chat rooms.

Q and A

When was this though, he died in 2005.

Jack Chalker gender tales

I think about half of Jack Chalker's novels involved gender identity. In addition to the massive amounts of body swapping where the male protagonists wind up female, there are also lots of other scenarios, like where the main character and his girlfriend get their genitals swapped.

Flux and Anchor

His Flux and Anchor series went a bit off the rails in that regard. Great concepts though. But thinking about it now, what the heck was I doing reading that series while still in elementary school?? LoL Might explain a few things, hmmm...

And yep, still have all the paperbacks to just about everything Chalker ever wrote.
