well kind of!

Truth of the matter is that whilst in theory I can walk or even ride, the practicalities are somewhat different. So maybe riding would be a not so great idea whilst I have a very sore hand and a lot of shoulder pain but walking I could do - if only I could wear something suitable! Yup, its taking me all my time to get into a loose frock and underwear is something of a challenge too - maybe i'll give some outdoor clothes a try tomorrow.

You'd think I'd be busy writing right, I can manage to sit and type but with the pain/painkiller stuff I can't concentrate on anything - if I ease on the meds everything gets aargh, if I take the meds my head goes to mush. Oh well, things will improve.

I've now had a chance to survey the clothing and bike damage a bit better, The bike got off quite lightly but I've got new brake levers rather than try to fix the damaged one so once I can hold the tools I can sort out the steed. Sliding down the tarmac is never good news for bike clothing, my jersey won't be seeing primary use again with the big hole in the upper back/shoulder but my shorts survived basically unscathed and my jacket which was in a pocket is also intact. Not so my gloves, well i'll admit they were on their last legs but they did their job but are now beyond use, the palm on one having been ripped from the back - I hate to think how bad my hand would've been without it there!

The road rash is healing up nicely but the bruising is really only just coming in so I think I'm in for a few more uncomfortable days!

My thanks to everyone who has sent sympathy and especially to the donor of some 'cream tea' money to cheer me up - i'll hang on to that until I can get back out on the bike so I can celebrate!

On to more mundane things, by some quirk of coincidence, Drew is in the wars in todays episode of Summer Girl too, I'd sympathise with him/her if I wasn't in my own pity party! So read Pear Shaped now.

I guess that's it for now

Be good to yourself out there, Maddy.

Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Do

Only what you feel comfortable doing Maddy, don't push yourself. :-) Get better soon.

I can sympathise!

Except that I got tossed off a horse to get myself injured. I remember thinking I could catch up on my writing and had my wife bring the laptop to the hospital. I set it up once I could move again and found myself staring at the thing and having not a clue what to do with my fingers. All I could do was play solitaire for a good week until I was off the serious pain meds. Hope you can find a comfortable position and get some rest.
