Fires in Los Angeles and Orange County may interrupt power to our downtown LA server for BCTS. If so, we'll be down and no knowing for how long. A less serious consequence might be rolling blackouts with intermittent outages lasting hours unless the server farm has to just shut down to protect equipment from surges. More news as it becomes available.
I'm 50 miles east of the fires, so don't worry about me, personally.
Hugs,
Erin

lets hope
that is good Erin. Lets hope bc doesnt have to shut down
Been wondering
Nice to know you are not in the fire area. We are in a fire weather warning around here, but not quite as windy as you've got in California.

If LA loses power...
...I'll post updates to Stardust and Crystal's. I'm on the eastern side of any power break so I should have power and I can use my WiFi modem or drive to a Palm Springs Starbucks if I have to.:)
Hugs,
Erin

500+ homes burned
There are a lot of people homeless in the LA area tonight, everyone from mobile home park dwellers to mansions on the hilltops. Let's all spare a moment of thought for the people whose lives will never be the same.
Hugs to you all,
Erin

breaks my heart
yeah its so sad. breaks my heart :( I read about how many have been left homeless. alot of people lost everything. I will pray that they can get back on their feet.
The people in the mansions probably arent homeless. they have other homes and their mansions are probably insured. they have nothing to worry about.
but there are alot of people that dont have all of that and lost their only home they have :( thats so sad.
Sunday afternoon
It's coming up to 1.30 pm here in Sydney and I heard on the radio a little while ago that parts of/perhaps all of California have/has been declared a State of Emergency. Large fires not being unknown here I can imagine and sympathise, I expect the evening news will lead with the fires there over the G20. Big fires are seriously scary and I'm glad I've never been really up close and personal to one. I hope the weather co-operates and things are brought under control; how would it be to lose everything you own or worse and I imagine like here many would not be insured. Positive thoughts... can't hurt.

It is only parts of Southern California, KLS
The northern 2/3 of California still has some fire danger areas, but no fire problems that I know of, ( Knock on wood ).
I'm about 50 miles south of San Francisco, We hit a new all time high of 81 today ( Are you sure it is mid-November?)
(80 kilometers, and 27C )

Hi Erin, I do hope you and
Hi Erin,
I do hope you and others are and keep safe during these fires. It is so sad that the State is so dry and constantly has fires flare up. I haven't heard or missed it if it was announced, but are they arson caused? If so, I really, really hope they get the culprit(s). Being an "old" California girl from Redwood City, (SF Bay Area), tho I live in Kentucky now, I know full well how fires are a major headache to everyone in various sections of the State. 50 miles sounds good, but please remember, fires can travel a lot faster than people think because they can jump by the wind pushing hot embers everywhere and way out from where the actual fire is located. Please be safe and I will pray for you and everyone there to be safe.

Fires!
My younger brother lives in Chino Hills, CA. At 23:30 Sunday night one of the fires is 2 miles from his new home!
They haven't had to evacuate, "YET" but I praying that they don't. According to CNN some of these fires are under investigation because of suspicious circumstances.
I just don't understand the mind of a person that would deliberately set these fires and cause so much destruction and yes even "DEATH."
