And so we reach the penultimate day of January, the month seems to have melted past my conscience!

What am I gonna babble about today? So, for various reasons I changed my early week ride day from Tuesday to Monday and so with a mostly dry forecast I set off early as I needed to get back to drop my poorly bike at the bike shop. I had a vague idea of going into the Forest of Dean so I headed across the Severn but instead of heading straight back into England I headed up the Welsh side of the Wye valley. Of course, at some point from the river you have to climb out so I took the road to Coleford where I broke to eat my sandwiches (technically they were rolls but from my neck of the woods they were sandwiches!)

I didn't actually go too far into the Forest before I turned to follow The Lyd all the way down to Lydney on the Severn where I picked up the road back to the bridges at Chepstow. Back across the waters then a slightly less than direct route back into Brizzle had me done not much after two with 120km on the clock, plenty of time to get the unwell bike to the Docs.

Having done the ride on Monday, yesterday I got in a reasonable walk, a bit over five miles which pushed my walking distance for the month into three digits. Yep, its not often that I have an exercise free day and January has been quite intense on two wheels too, i'll hit 1500km with tomorrows jaunt - I really ought to get a life! The bad news is that the Doc couldn't fix the bike, it needs more intensive surgery which of course costs over twice as much so I'm no further on in terms of getting my own wheels back on the road.

Whilst I didn't make any New Year resolutions, I did promise myself that I'd immerse myself in Maddyness to see where it goes. Well I have to admit, I wimped out big style in taking Maddy out of the house - bits made the journey by default but when push came to shove it was never more than 20% Maddy that ventured forth. That hurdle of confidence was breached over the last week, Maddy has been out and about several times doing my normal stuff - am I being brave or stupid?

Lets face it, I'm no oil painting but I think I just about don't scream 'man in a dress', Much like Francesca in Simon Says... once I get past how I'm dressed I forget about it. There are still hurdles to cross but I think February will see most of them ticked off which will allow me to see where I'm going a bit better. I know a lot of you have been there, done that but its taken me over forty years to get to the point where Maddy isn't hiding in the shadows, all but invisible.

I'm sure i'll bore you with more on this subject but that's the lot for now.

Moving on, there is of course a new Gaby chapter today,Dirndl Day. The work keeps coming but will it be too much for the Wunderkind?

In other stuff, I have got some writing done this week, only a few thousand words but its a start, you might even get to see it at some point! And just to clarify, I'm no longer actively trying to write more Gaby, if it happens it does, but I think the pressure of trying to write it at all costs has been very negative. So there might be more Gaby, there might not, if it happens it happens but I'd rather be writing something rather than nothing which is where I've been since last July.

Lastly today, with a following wind the third instalment of Scott's alternate Gaby storyline should be available on Amazon this weekend. Work is also well advanced on the next re-edit in the cannon series too so unless there is anything unforeseen in the next few days that should see release in about ten days.

Anyhow, that's it for today so Tschussie,
Mads

Oil painting

I do believe Goya did some of me during his black period...

As those here who have met me can testify, I am far from pulchritudinous. It makes no real difference to me, as I am who I am, and have been for years. My transition was not smooth, being in a very public gaze, but I am me, and as said have been for years and years.

If it is right for you, it is neither brave nor stupid, but necessary. How you handle the bad bits is also necessity, but courage helps.

I am about to get the bus to do my monthly banking and a large grocery shopping job. It will be in a maxi skirt, fleece top and training shoes. What an oil painting! Still me, though.

Courage, woman.

Pulchritudinous

A lovely word and my new word for the day.
Thanks

Samantha
