I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings again, and I don't know his views on gender issues, but Stan Lee was a great influence on my life and my characters. It so sad to see another of my heroes pass away. I'm sure some of you, like me, lost yourself in comic books with their larger than life heroes that were a little more human than those that came before.
Just thought some of you might like to know the news. He was 95.

I still have two of the 'Stan Lee Presents' Marvel flip books from the... 60's or 70's. (Two stories, you flipped the book over for the second).
Amazing man. Too bad the company has been so much of a douche about names :)
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
I met the man
I met him more than once but never had a conversation with him; still, I did overhear one with one of the organizers of the Con.
The auditorium at the old Convention Center was full and Stan was late to speak and help judge the costume contest. One of the organizers was hurrying him down the aisle. Just behind me in my seat, a young man stood up and stepped in front of them. "Mr. Lee," he said, "I just wanted to say that I think your line about with Great Power comes Great Responsibility was one of the best and truest things written in literature."
Stan thanked him and apologized for having to rush away and get up on the stage and the young man thanked Stan and sat down. The organizer (I know who it was but I'm not saying his name) had been trying to rush the exchange and I heard him complain about the kid being an idiot as they passed me.
Stan said, "Never disrespect the fans. We would not be here without them. They pay for it and they make it worth doing." The organizer admitted that that was true and thanked Stan for reminding him of it.
Goodbye, Stan. I'm still a True Believer.
