for the next week!
Well not strictly true but it will be very limited. So you may recall i've previously mentioned the ongoing issues with my brothers accommodation since Dad passed away last July. Just to recap, despite living in the same bungalow with my parents for over twenty years, the landlord, the local council, finally decided in January that my bro didn't qualify to remain in the property. Hand forced after six months of uncertainty, things moved quickly and when i last went north in early February lil bro 'won' a new place, it has taken ten weeks for the solicitors to sort the paperwork but last week he finally took possession of keys.
Tomorrow then i go up to GOC to help him move the 4 miles as the crow flies, across the city to his new flat. Its not quite as onerous as it could be, most of the loose stuff is in storage at this point so its 'just' the furniture to sort out. And its not all the furniture, a good chunk is going to the BHF furniture store, they collect that stuff on Friday, we'll be moving the remainder on Monday at which point we'll leave what was the family home, for the last time. Saturday i'll be visiting a friend and on Sunday we are having a family outing with my daughter & grandson to fulfil a promise made to the grandson last year. I return to my current abode on Tuesday after which normal service will recommence.
I will be taking a bike up so i'll have a ride or two whilst i'm there so i will get some exercise! Anyhoo, whilst the main utilities will be in place, its unlikely that the internet will be hence the lack of a weekend update. So there you have it.
Anyhow, to catch up, Monday was a UK Bank Holiday which i celebrated with an 8 kilometre wind lashed walk, it was nice and sunny but the wind was quite cold and strong.
Yesterday - well the wind dictated the direction of my ride, generally eastwards and it started off quite grey too. I wound my way onto and across the Cotswold massif to reach my regular Chippenham lunch stop. By now it was brighter, warmer even and i set off for the return loop hoping for at least a little bit of wind assistance. Down through Lacock and Melksham, then across to Bradford on Avon where i joined the canal towpath towards Bath, by now it was sunny and quite warm, especially in the shelter of the deep Avon valley.
Then it was back up the bike path for the final 18km, the wind helping to speed me back to complete the 107km in exactly five hours and with just 683m of going up. All in all not a bad day.
Today i will mostly be sorting everything out to take north, tools, gifts, the bike, pack a bag, finish the laundry, go for a walk, tend to the horticulture - fingers crossed it all survives my absence!
So that's it for today, i'll hopefully be back next Wednesday but for now,
Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid

Having Just Moved
I think you're a terrible optimist! However, I wish you good luck.
it's all in
the preparations!
Literally everything that could be moved out has been leaving 3 levels of stuff
1) Furniture and stuff like kettle
2) Furniture etc going to charity on Friday
3) anything else which isn't going anywhere.
We only have to move 1) which comprises about 8 or 9 pieces of actual furniture, bed, table, chairs, book case, chest of drawers and a couple of bits of white goods. They are coming out of a bungalow and into a first floor flat so no difficult access, one straight, short flight of stairs and nothing is very heavy apart from the white goods, which are new but surplus to requirements so for now they are going into storage.
Stuff like cleaning supplies, bed linen, books, extra crockery has, for the most part been in storage since February, Some of that has already been moved this last week, the rest will be moved on an 'as and when' basis around Bros work schedule. For example, he's away from Wednesday for 10 days so its not desperate to have all the crockery / books / decorations moved this weekend. The storage is free with no time limit so there is no rush there. Some stuff i will be bringing back to Brizzle to sell either next week or later in the summer but its all secure for now.
As we say in Yorkshire, it'll be reyt.
