Downloaded a tool for keeping track of updates and upgrades to the software we use here. Looks like I've got two or three days work to do to get the current version up to date
. Much of the work can only be done late at night because I have to turn the site off temporarily to massage the database.
So, if you try to reach the site late at night in the next few days and get a weird error message, that's probably what is happening. Late at night is after 1 a.m EDT/10 p.m. PDT.

Insomnia sucks
When I wake at 3 a.m. and can't get back to sleep, I generally come in and browse BC looking for something to read. (No, I'm not saying the stories here put me to sleep, but as long as I'm already awake I might as well read something I enjoy.) Guess I'll have to start downloading more stories for late reading. :-(

Don't worry too much
It's nt likely to be down for more than ten minutes or so at a time. And it already goes down for ten minutes or so at 1 a.m. PDT for backup and 3 a.m. PDT for reboot, however long that takes, usually less than 7 minutes.
I just wanted to warn people about possible error messages showing up earlier than the above times.

One a.m. there is three a.m. here, which explains the ugly blue guy I keep getting the first time or two I try to visit the site. :-)

Don't stay up too late, maybe you can do it in increments over a couple of days.
Too many hoots
Between the years spent on the 11-7/12-8 shift, and the time spent living in Norway, I think my body is permenantly reprogrammed. The later it gets, the more awake I get. :-(

Jumped on a few ago and there was a pretty heavy load on the board, 133 guests and 26 registered as I recall. So the recently posted comments column didn't show. Just now, I see the comments are back, but only like 10. Is this due to the load, or part of the ongoing changes and updates?

The comments disappear from the front page when the load is greater than about 130 guests. Also, since I've been updating files, I have to re-hack the code to set the number of comments on the front page to something that will include at least 8 hours of comments. Currently, that's about 50 on a busy day.
You can use the |Comments| tab in the header to access up to 100 recent comments. Depending on your browser, you may get an error the first time you push that link. Should work the second time. Damifinowy.
