I'm getting ready to begin posting a story, once my gracious editors and proofers have done with ripping it to shreds and I've attended to their comments, and I have a question about licensing. More than one person has suggested I publish it on Amazon, or Hat Box, and I'm drawn to the latter, but since I'm a slut for attention and don't really need any more money I'm inclined to try to give it as wide an audience as is possible for a story of its length (in unedited form its over 130,000 words). So I'll probably just post it here first for a few weeks, then elsewhere.

Anyways, I was inclined to give it a creative commons attribution, but the embed code for the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License comes with license embeds that link to 3rd party images at http://creativecommons.org, and I know Erin has a view about links to 3rd party images.

Is a simple link minus the cc logo sufficient? I would guess so, but someone else may know more than me in this regard. Sans logos, it looks like this (obviously I can't post the standard CC embed without breaking Erin's rule, and I don't want to offend):

A Turn Of The Cards is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.

Anyways, I'm putting this here instead of a PM to the admins because other people might be interested. I haven't seen other stories with CC licenses here, but maybe I'm writing too much and not looking hard enough.

The Code is located here

http://creativecommons.org/choose/ to embed it in lower right hand window :)

Thank you. So just to be clear - you don't mind the link to the CC logo?

It's okay

The problem with external images is unstable outside sites, not stable ones like CC. :)

Nope

Something new. Well, not that new, it's taken me a few years to write. But apart from aforesaid editors and proofers, it hasn't been seen by anyone else before.
