Before someone goes into a Feminist rant, please consider the source, and the fact that she has never claimed to be respectable.

I was just reading an article about a female reporter working for an Alabama Newspaper who was apparently spanked by her then boss at the paper, in 1975.

In 1969, I was then married and we went to a counselor to see if he could help us iron out some relational issues. After hearing us out, he advised us to go home and I was then to spank my wife. Looking back the nearly 50 years from this time, we went home and I set out to accomplish my assignment. In tears and begging piteously my then wife asked me not to carry out this punishment. Though I did not understand her reticence, I relented and did not spank her, though we did have earnest and heartfelt conversation afterward.

These days, no longer being married, those who read my stories will know that one of my "trademarks" usually is a spanking of the female protagonist, and that my stories are often written in first person. My own demented background sort of normalizes spanking, though in the 21st century, it is regarded by most to be demented and unhealthy.

It feels a bit validating to see that corporal punishment in those days was rather more common than now. I hope.

As an adult in the 60's ...

this does not sound like the mid-western cultures I lived in. I'd have been appalled to hear such "professional guidance!"

Between the wrinkles, the orthopedic shoes, and nine decades of gravity, it is really hard to be alluring. My icon, you ask? It is the last picture I allowed to escape the camera ... back before most BC authors were born.

I've heard of this before

Where a good 'spanking' between consenting adults worked wonders in an otherwise troubled relationship.
From memory, the rules were, hands only, wearing rings etc was forbidden and no blood would be drawn.
Again from memory, the case in question was where the wife spanked the husband.
but it was a good few years ago.
With all this PC [redacted] around today and people filing suit at the drop of a hat no one would ever suggest this as a therapy.

Re: I've heard of this before

Yep, a good consensual bit of spanking can do wonders. I like it from both sides myself, as spanker or spankee.

The one thing that is really important is to NOT do it when angry, as it is easy to hurt someone at that point. Calm down first.

I haven't been in a consensual BDSM relationship for 9.5 years, I wouldn't mind getting into it again.

Hmmm, there are several events in my area each month. I may give them a look see soon. *grins*

As a form of therapy, just remember a good spanking releases endorphins, the same effect one gets when one is a distance runner and has had a very good workout. It's the intent behind it that makes it good or bad.

It's just like someone who has a gun. Will they use it to rob and hurt people, or to protect others?

One statement in The Wiccan Rede says it quite well, "An ye harm none, do as ye will." Karma is a very nasty bitch. LOL

have said in a consensual way it's not a bad thing. But as others have said or implied one has to have limits. I've never done BDSM but each to their own once again if it's consensual and people enjoy it. Has my husband spanked my butt? I plead the fifth lol. It can be a part of a healthy lifestyle if all agree to it. Some people go as far as using paddles etc. I've heard. Once again if that floats your boat go with it is my view. For me, that would be going too far. But as far as feminist rants go I'm sure that even some men would not object to being spanked. From what I hear there is pretty much a fetish for everything.
