I've been stuck on a huge story for nearly a year, and had something happen early this morning. It is not clear to me if this was a spiritual vision or simply the product of my own demented mind. My view of the current and developing world promotes lots of anxiety.

In the dream, 20 or so of us are with this very rich but demented, eccentric, uber rich scientist/entrepreneur in a modern mansion overlooking a valley that runs up into Yellowstone country. This guy does not like most of the people with him but they work for him, and he pays them lots to do whatever it is that they do.

I arrive at the scene, in a Helicopter, and landing on the roof with others, and and go into the house, where they are anxiously viewing the rapid development of a new volcano perhaps. Far below livestock, elk, bears and other wild animals are laying about dead from volcanic gasses. This is viewed by a very good, telescopic video camera and the picture is put up on a huge wide screen TV.

There are two children, around 6 to 8 years old, a boy and a girl who are standing at a window and completely dismayed about what they are seeing. The girl is teared up and the little boy is not far behind. I am a post op transgender woman in her late teens, and am immediately drawn to the children, wanting to comfort them. So here we are, stood at the window, me kneeling, with the children in my arms and hoping that I am getting this right. It is still so soon after my transition that at times I feel like an impostor.

I become aware that this man that no one likes has placed his hand upon my shoulder and is speaking to me. "These are my grandchildren, Rex and Millie. Keep them with you, and protect them if you can. This thing is going to blow before we can all get out of here. I want you and the children to quietly get on that chopper; the pilot has instructions to get you to safety. I'll send a few others up after you.

"Please send Dan up will you? He is my guardian and I love him".

He looks at me, with severity for a moment, and then nods to me. "Go quietly, but go now".

There is much more to this, and speaks to the need for me to do better plot development, and to write more descriptively about my characters. I hope this has removed the cursed writing block that I have been experiencing.

Much peace

Gwen

Sounds like a vision.

You had a vision of another life. No way to tell whose life and from where. But, it was a vision that allowed you to see life from a different point of view.

For a writer this is useful in understanding points of view that different people have.

As long as the vision is not unpleasant do not worry too much about it.

It fits nicely

I am sort of stymied about how to get a family from very rural Oregon to rainy, humid Oman and perhaps this has broken my block.

Oman

Humid ? Yes, you bet. IMHO, only Miami in late spring was as humid. I hate that level of humidity with the high temps.
Rainy ? About one week a year.

Amman is wetter than Oman and it even snows in Amman (I experienced it twice in 2013 and 2015) yet is it still classed as being in a Desert.

A Dream?

A couple years ago, there was this talk of Yellowstone National Park sitting over a super volcano that could erupt any day now. My suspicion was that this was a gross misunderstanding of the actual situation, by the public media. Maybe some sleep process in your brain triggered a memory of that, and created a story surrounding it for you.

By all means, exploit it to the fullest for any opportunities to write. You might write down any more details, even more than the many you posted.

Lucid dreams

I get these frequently, it's a facility I have practiced for years and most of my stories are based in such "visions". Not all of these are worthwhile. Like earlier this week I had a very vivid lucid dream about two people trying to put together a director's chair, some parts of which were missing or broken. :) The character development was interesting but I can't say much about the plot.

Hugs,
Erin
