Experienced my first ever "Denial of Service" yesterday at a Sheri's in Hood River of all places. I've eaten in Hood River before, while out on one of my many sanity restoring "walkabouts". It was done carefully and craftily so I would not be able to file a grievance.
Donald Trump has made hatred even more prevalent than it ever was.
To those who have routinely been discriminated against, I am sorry that you had to go through that.

sounds like some people that I've encountered before. They'll hear mention of me being a veteran and do the whole 'Thank you for your service' bit, then they find out I'm trans and you see the real people. They just mouth the words. No real gratitude, just running on auto-pilot. Makes me want to walk in wearing a mini-skirt, heels and t-shirt that says "Desert Storm Veteran". Then ask if its true they don't serve Veterans. Heeheehee.

Why not post the experience on say, Tripadvisor and other sites.
Perhaps the corresponding loss of business will peruade them to modify their behaviour.
To other BCTS readers, I've had the pleasure meeting Gwen and really enjoyed her company. On our two trips out, we didn't experience this sort of small minded behaviour. If we had, I would have let the people doing so what I thought of them. There is no excuse for this behaviour and attitude in 2016.

I must confess my confusion. Could you elaborate on the circumstances surrounding this event? In what way was it connected to Donald Trump?
Please understand that this is not an attempt to minimalize what you went through, I am only asking for some clarification.
I always understood Oregon to be a very tolerant area.
Be kind to those who are unkind, tolerant toward those who treat you with intolerance, loving to those who withhold their love, and always smile through the pains of life.

He's a republican, have you not read their platform? Their platform is the most ANTI LGBT it's ever been. There are no republicans who support LGBT. Just ones that want to bring back Conversion therapy.

12 years out...
For reasons I do not understand, I have not experienced significant rejection from those who do not know I am Intersex; meaning that despite my own self rejection, I mostly pass very well. When I look in the mirror, I see an aging old hag, and somehow seem to pull the full female deportment, deportation off just fine. People seem to see a somewhat tattered aging woman with lots of vinegar left. I look like a sheep farmer's wife.
And almost without exception, Oregon people are friendly and not accusing or hateful.
Trump ties into the psychology of hatred because as humans, we tend to imitate the behaviour that we see acted out. And that is what I am seeing in public more these days than ever before. So, in addition to my being an aging Sheep wife, I am also a very amateur psychology student. :)

but not all of it, like most places, there are people of ALL types there, and some are of that creed who feel superior by denying others basic human decency.
Her point is that Trump while in a few comments seemed at worst neutral to trans, to possibly supportive, then reneged on those statements supporting STATES rights, in order to get the nomination of course. also his sudden "conversion" to christianity, and adoption of an "evangelical advisory council" shows he has fully joined what i have dubbed the "republichristian" party, since it seems it was hijacked by the far right religious lunatics some time ago.
his lack of a back bone makes it a defacto support for their denouncing OUR rights to be human beings, with equal rights. at least that is how i see it, until his ACTIONS prove otherwise
