Back in April when I was in a
Back in April when I was in a funk one of the members told my stories helped them through a tough time and made them feel better. I could no longer stop writing at the point knowing that it was helping someone else.
ou have posted a lot and shared much of your struggles and still found the energy to write a great series and comment on many of our own stories. You come out as a person of interest and respect and encouragement, you do inspire some but it doesn't get noticed until you are told.
I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime

Inspiration? Role model? Whatever label you choose, you are helping others. By sharing both your ups and downs and your humanity, you help others put their lives in perspective. You show them that transition is not a magic elixir, but a life choice that has both ups and downs.

Inspiration
Yes young lady, you are an inspiration to me and others here who transitioned after you did. Yes, you are having some financial set-backs and you are dealing with severe PTSD BUT you keep trying to do your best even when it looks like the rest of the world is trying to crap on your parade.
Just so everyone knows, Dot is a member of my crew on the USS Jorgensen NCC 1952. She is a member of my Medical Staff and is known as Dr Huggles by the crew. Oh, and she is in denial that she is a Girly Girl and that she DOES NOT have girly germs that she spreads wherever she goes. :P Don't deny it Lt, I am your Captain and I am never wrong. :P
I only know Dorothy through stories, but ....
I somehow feel like I mostly know Dorothy through her stories, but I will say that that Dorothy is an inspiration to me. She has revealed some awfully painfull things about her life in her stories. She reveals emotions -- fears and doubts about herself and the possibility of transition -- that are all too familiar to me. (I'm in the middle of transitioning M2F at the age of 62 -- I'll be 63 before I'm full-time and 64 before SRS.)

The question she poses is the one I ask myself again and again: to what extent do I want to be a woman because that's what's closest to my inborn self, and to what extent is it an attempt to deal with the trauma of living through my childhood? (which was nowhere near as bad as Dorothy's, but still feels[*] pretty awful.)
[*] -- Present tense intentional. This kind of stuff never really goes away.
Oh, and I still read and reread "The Dead Kid", and it still brings tears to my eyes each time I read it.
I imagine you live too far away from me (I'm in the NYC area), but when I read your blog posts and sometimes even your stories, I want to pop over and give you a big long hug in hopes of making the bad things go away for at least a few minutes.
