Well, got a frustrating situation going on. See, way back at the beginning of December, I booked the last week of January off, got that approved by my supervisor, and gave the sheet to the personal office.

And yet, my name is on the schedule for that week.

I talked to the store manager and my supervisor about this, and they asked me about pushing my time off because they are expecting a new maintenance person to be starting around that time, and they would prefer they not have to go solo right away, but rather have someone to show them the ropes.

Mostly, what frustrates me is that my mom booked time of her work to coincide with my time off, and now that;'s out the window.

Plus, I've been in such pain, I was really looking forward to a break to hopefully heal.

Ah, well.

Well, there's always unpaid time off.

If you can afford it, a sick day or two is something they can't deny you provided it doesn't point you out. Plus, if the time was already approved, they really can't go back on that after the fact, since they should have taken that into account when hiring the new maintenance person.

When I put in for vacation...

I tell everyone that I'm going out of town and have a non refundable deposit down on the hotel, cabin or what ever. I make sure that EVERYONE in the dept know this as soon as I put in for the time off. Ive had supervisors screa me over before.

Same here except that I say,

Same here except that I say, 'I'm flying to xxxx at the front of the plane. If you compensate me for my loss due to not flying, the hotels/car hire then I'll cancel my vacation'.
So far there have been no takers. Everyone of my work colleagues (I refuse to use that horrid co-worker PC nonsense) knows that I do indeed fly Business Class when the trip is for myself and is over 4 hours.
For work, I have to fly cattle (Coach to you Americans) even on Long Haul.

Anyway it will soon be moot and I'm just waiting for the right time to pull the plug and retire. Maybe by the end of the year.

Walmart

That's Walmart for you , my wife put in 13 years so I know how it goes , and as far as calling in sick they frown on doing that to the point of losing your job labor laws be damned

Hope you can make up for it soon

I know how annoying it can be, I had two major adventures disrupted at the last minute, though at least it was not by my employers. There have been other, different ones since.
