Girl:
I’m finally out of the closet
A-a-a-a-a-a-h-
Oh, my life is great,
And my future is greater.
Sleep, sleep, in my sweetie’s arms.
QUARTET:
Rest in your sweetie’s arms.
2nd Girl:
Ya got the time, sis?
3rd Girl:
Five minutes to nine!
Girl:
I left my dear lover still sleeping.
O-o-o-o-o-o-h-
Oh, my life is sweet.
But my girl is sweeter.
Sleep, sleep in my sweetie’s arms.
QUARTET:
Rest in your sweetie’s arms.
2ND GIRL:
Hey, what time is it?
3RD GIRL:
One minute to nine.
GIRL:
All night I dreamed about girl.
W-a-a-a-a-a-h-
Oh, her smile is true,
and her eyes are bluer.
Sleep, sleep in my lady's arms.
QUARTET:
Rest in your sweetie’s arms.
2ND GIRL:
What time is it now, sis?
GIRL:
Aw, nine o'clock, okay!?
LIZZIE:
Come on, Gabey, hurry up!
CHARLENE:
Twenty-four hours!
ANNOYING GUY:
Hey, why don't ya look where you're goin'.
You'd think it was your first time in New York!
GABEY:
It is!
(The ladies look around them, happily absorbing the scene.)
ALL:
New York, New York!
It's a fabulous town!
GABEY:
We've got one day here and not another minute
To see the famous stores!
LIZZIE:
We'll find the romance and danger waiting in it
And a bunch of annoying boors;
But we've boobs on our chests
So what we like the best are the stores
Stores! More! Stores!
ALL:
New York, New York, a fabulous town.
My E is up, with hardly any T around.
Gee I wonder if I’ll fit in that gown?
New York, New York, it's a fabulous town!
CHARLENE:
(points to Flirty Fashionista)
Hey, Gabey! Gabey, look.
(consulting her guidebook with reverence and excitement)
Gabey, it says here "this playful, pink-accented store is a treasure trove of trendy apparel for the flirty fashionista"
LIZZIE:
Here we go again!
CHARLENE:
The famous places to shop are so many,
Or so the guidebooks say.
I promised myself I wouldn't miss on any.
And we have just one day.
Got to see the whole town
From All Things Cool to Fit for Broa-oadway.
ALL:
In just one day!
New York, New York, a fashionista's place,
Where everyone shops at a hectic pace,
But with every boutique really screaming for space.
New York, New York, a fashionista’s place!
(Two other ladies approach - one happy, one very glum.)
GABEY:
Hey! Look who's comin' back! It's Tina and Andi!
LIZZIE:
Hey, Tina! Hey Andi! Hey, girls how are the uptown ladies?
ANDI:
Disappointing - I don't remember a thing!
TINA:
Wonderful! I remember everything!
(Tina and Andi exit.)
LIZZIE:
Manhattan women are dressed in silk and satin,
Or so the ladies say;
There's just one thing that's important in Manhattan,
When you have just one day;
Gotta pick up a pair of shoes...
CHARLENE:
Maybe seven...
OZZIE:
Or eight
On your way.
ALL:
In just one day!
ALL:
New York, New York, a fabulous town.
My E is up, with hardly any T around.
I wonder if I’ll ever fit in that gown?
New York, New York, it's a fabulous town!

Well, You Did It Again
I don't know how you do it. You simply amaze me with your cleverness. There is a video out there that includes some major opera stars performing On The Town as it was originally written. Betty Comden and Adolph Green actually perform in it. It is far better than the movie that had so little of the original. It's not fair to compare them as they are so different. I think I have the CD somewhere.

Cute one Drea!
Sort of reminds me of "Sex and the City". Loving Hugs Talia
