One thing loosing my job has done, it has moved up my timetable on SRS. This is because SRS is covered on my old insurance, and part of my severance package was insurance for 11 weeks after I was laid off. I am prepared to buy COBRA if I have to if I need the insurance extended.
So, baring glitches, I will be going into an operating room and having what was supposed to be the final stage of my transition done. Like I said, it was moved up. I do not see myself ever being able to afford this on my own, and I qualify now (or will as of Dec. 16).
The electrolysis on my facial hair will have to wait until I have a full time job again. The laser treatments have done a lot of good, but there is plenty more left to go.
People keep asking me if I am excited. Silly question, of course I am excited. I am also terrified. There is so much that can go wrong, no surgery is without risk. But it is worth it, I'll just have my fingers crossed when I go under.

Way To Go!
I'm sure you'll love it.
It's only 2 weeks, but you could try to improve your cardiovascular fitness, if you haven't been working out regularly. The fitter you are, the more easily you will recover. If something goes wrong, (almost certainly won't) it could make a difference.
Who is your surgeon, where are you going? Maybe sometime you could post a pic of yourself. (not the surgery, Erin could get in trouble!)

The way I look at surgery is... yes its scrarey but no where near as scarey as not having it.
A friend of mine had a staff infection for a month... she cried daily and bathed in salts and douched with anti-biotics 4 times a day and she still says "IT WAS WORTH IT!"
Friends advice has been... make sure you get to 'clear' before surgery specially in that special place before surgery. I say be sure to bring a battery operated razor if you don't... cuz as I'm sure we all know... facial hair sucks and its hard to be happy about your new equipment when you have 3-10 days growth... depending on when you are allowed out of bed.
