I had one of those tedious dreams last night.
In it I was young and working for the police department in some big city. I wasn't a sworn officer but what they called an adjunct officer, doing all the stuff that doesn't involve carrying a gun. I needed a degree in Law Enforcement to advance so I started back to college.
In the middle of my signing up for classes at the local junior college, the city had a flood. A few days after the flood, news reports about dangerous mold caused a panic and every where I went, people who knew I worked for the city had samples from their bathroom walls or some such that they wanted me to take to the city lab. And I kept getting calls from them days and weeks later wanting to know what the lab had said.
But I had never taken the samples to the lab. There was no paperwork for turning such things in so every officer and clerk in the police department had a little box of samples in their desk, waiting for paperwork. We weren't supposed to tell people why they hadn't got any results back. Just make something up the lieutenant said.
And I had a sociology test coming up that I hadn't studied for and some pharmacist kept calling me about the sample he had sent in from underneath the sink in his pharmacy. I was so late for my sociology test because of phone calls that I was in the middle of trying to talk the instructor into letting me withdraw from the course with an incomplete when I woke up.
It's pretty funny to tell it now that I am awake and know that none of this stuff actually happened but it had me really worried in the dream. :)
My brother says I have a tendency to over-commit and that that's what the dream was about. You think? :)
Hugs,
Erin

Idea
Personally I think it is a great idea for a story anyone agree with me?
I'm with Papa here on this.
One a really weird dream but two a story definitely there. I think you'd do cop drama well.
Erin's Law and Oder SVU with a TG character?
CSI Los Angeles?

Don't worry
they won't have you committed unless you believe it was all real.

Well it does sound as if
Well it does sound as if dream-you was taking on too much and had no idea where to turn...
And I agree it sounds like an interesting story concept.
Especially if the mould is suddenly flesh-eating.
Now it's a b-grade horror movie from the 80s...

Story idea?
If anyone wants to tackle this as a story idea, feel free. Maybe make the young police intern male and the mold is capable of changing someone's sex? :)
And if you think that dream is weird, you should see some of the others I have had!

My weirdest dream is a recurring one I have about being a squirrel strapped into a tiny electric chair in a wooden crate in the middle of the woods, with a lumberjack trying to electrocute me to death.
I've had the dream since I was little, and I still have no clue where the heck it comes from.

All too real...
It bears uncanny resemblance to how many governments and administrative organizations try to cover up cases of serious health issues by taking samples and then just filing the samples instead of actually testing them.
SCARY!

Your dream means you have
Your dream means you have repressed sexual desires. What? it's what Freud would say at least. :P
