Well, today didn't go according to plan.
I was supposed to have a day with my daughter, but instead I ended up tagging along behind her and my ex as they walked around a local mall.
I felt so ... inauthentic, downplaying the fem thing for their sake, having to put up with being called by the male name, even getting called "sir" when we stopped for food ...
After the week I've had, making mistakes at work, forgetting a doctor's appointment, I was hoping for a pick-me-up, instead I got a drag-me-down ...
sigh.

I think I remember you saying Sam is now 13. I think it is about time you told her she should be old enough to take the news and you should be able to be yourself. I have no children so make your own decision. That, however is my 2 cents.
Look on the bright side
It's always worth taking the time to consider the good parts - you got to spend a day with your daughter. She still wants to spend time with you. For all that you have to play down the femininity, it's something you're doing for her. That's not inauthentic, that's sacrificing for your child.
Don't play down the good things, and don't play down your own strength in doing it.
