At about this time 365 days ago I created a profile here. I had been lurking for years and had even been around when old big closet existed. I found solace in the wonderful stories and works here and felt I finally had the do something about it. I registered and kudoed everything I read. Then I read two stories that made me comment Something to Declare by Cyclist and Sacrifice Drea.

These two stories spoke to me and moved me so much I had to say something about them. And it was off to the races. I read a lot and commented quite a bit. I had just been moved to a new store that had no traffic so it was easy.

I put my first blog up in July, and had an amazing response. All of the comments just made me smile to no end. I don't know if anyone remembers but my avatar back then was a little square of black. Once I started blogging I started getting pm's and comments. Something wonderful happened I started making friends, I had people who said they cared about me. My avatar changed to the little me you see over there now. I had found a place where I could be me, the real me. I was accepted and that was something I never thought I would have.

Sometime along the way the friends I have made became family. I finally got the nerve to post my own writing up and people told me it didn't suck. It has been therapeutic and helps immensely. When I started here I was a ball of depression and desperation, now I still have those bouts but it makes it easier to deal with when I have great folks like you in my corner.

I plan on being around a long time, and I can never see a time when I don't hang out in the closet. Everyone has been so wonderful I feel the need to pay it forward, message me anytime if any of you would like to talk. I am always checking the site.

I love you all my extended family and thank you for helping me over the bumps in my life. I am so fortunate to have you, and give thanks every day.

Smiles, Jennifer Cavazos the me inside.

Happy Anniversary!

Your current avatar is only the latest style of your avatar. Your Av' did have glasses at one time. (But then she got LASIK surgery, I'm guessing). You are an accomplished blogger, and short story writer, and poet; as well as friend, encourager, matchmaker, and epic scifi story spinner. I love and appreciate you, and your courageous honesty. A Toast, to many more years of service, and a continuing, bigger, brighter future for you, 'Niff, and all of us!

I love you too! I've gone through some changes myself, I guess the nature of life is we change until we move on.

It is funny, I used to joke I grew a life, I was so busy there were things happening every single day. I gripped and groaned about it, but I think it is a sign of mental health. I enjoyed it.

Then, for a while, I lost it. Now I am negotiating with HR to go full time (still waiting for how they want to handle it) I'm back there again!

If/when either of us are in the same area (we are in the same state after all) we definitely need to touch base and visit. Friends are the liquor of life.
