The story is well underway again, as I've managed about 1500 words in the last 24 hours--remarkable considering that I write and edit as I go. My way of working helps--if one plot thread isn't going well, I need to do more research at a later time, I move on to another scenes. Yes, I view stories in movie terms--I have a large mental storyboard in which every plot point is mapped out.

Unfortunately--and you knew there had to be an "unfortunately" in there somewhere--this is turning out to be a Frankenstein's monster of a TG-fiction story that will require a mountain of research before I'm through. Items as seemingly insignificant as where my main character would have to live in Wisconsin order to reach a certain ice arena in Milwaukee (the Petit, I think it's called) take part in a skating lesson for disabled kids, go with his friends downtown for lunch, and return to his school by about 12:45. (His time of departure would be 8:15). Not to mention which entrance the kids would line up in front of, and the general layout of the place. Also, there's the question of dropping some names of actual restaurants or stores in the area, or making something up. I live in a different part of the state, so I'm really not much more familiar with the area than any out-of-stater would be. It just seemed logical to use Wisconsin, as I'm intimately acquainted with the capriciousness of the climate in winter, having lived there for 12 years. (John in Wauwautosa, maybe you could help?)

And that's just part of the main plot--there's a subplot I haven't worked on yet.

Because my working method is slow, and I'm an impatient sort, I thought of posting to this blog a sample of what I've done already. Which is where y'all come in (I may live up north, but I'm still a southern gal at heart).

Would you folks want to see a portion of the story, or would you prefer to wait?

Sure why not

It can't hurt, so sure why not. I've been to Madison, twice for a few hours each time, visited my mother when she was in "Senior Summer School".
But that's about it. So I can't help.
