There was a wishing well in the park down the road where Peter lived and he would go there after school every afternoon on his way home. He always made sure he had some coins in his pocket because nothing happened till he dropped a coin into the well and heard it splash into the water that seemed to be a long way down. Only when he heard the coin hit the water did he close his eyes and make his favourite wish, which was of course - you guessed it - being a girl instead of a fifteen year old boy. He lived with his Mum in a council flat. His Dad died a year ago from lung cancer from smoking two packs of cigarettes a day and always was going to give it up but just couldn’t quite do it. Peter loved his Dad and it was a sad day when they buried him, but life goes on and he and his Mum had to survive without the bread-winner of the family.
His Mum was Beth Allback. Her maiden name was Allbright which was always a running joke when people wanted to have a bit of fun, and when they greeted her they would say, “And how is the allbright Beth Allback today?”
It wore a bit thin after a while and she would reply, “Pretty bright thank you.”
Peter was of very slight build and his voice is still in the high range and if you weren’t looking when he spoke you would swear it was a girl speaking but that didn't worry Peter because as far as he was concerned he wanted to be a girl and if his voice stayed that way it was par for the course. Beth was a loving Mum and had a fair idea that Peter was different than other boys his age and decided a long time ago that love is all that counts and she would support her child in whatever came along in life.
Peter's dad was also convinced his son was different, and before he died he had thought of making an appointment for him to see what was going on with his very effeminate son. He was a real gentle soul and if his son was different it made no difference to the love he felt for him, but of course it was all cut short by his untimely death. Peter cried for days after the funeral and he had to take a whole week off from school. Beth was almost as bad and they sat and cried together till the tears would come no more.
That was twelve months ago and time had healed it somewhat. Beth had to go to work after David died and it was a bit hard to get back into the swing of things because she had put all her energy into looking after her husband and son. Now it was time to support her child and she went back to nursing at the local hospital. She was also doing a refresher course at uni part time in correspondence at night so she didn't lose any time at work and hours paid.
Peter wasn't a brilliant student by any means but got by just the same. He wasn't interested in sports but liked to do drama and acting so he joined the acting and arts class. The teachers welcomed him with open arms because it was hard to get any boys to join. There were twenty kids in the class and out of the twenty there were only six boys, so when Peter came along it opened up more possibilities in the plays that they could produce. Mind you all the other boy's weren’t much more he-men than Peter. Drama class didn't attract too many football players after all.
It was Sunday afternoon and Beth had to work a weekend shift so she wouldn't be home till after eight o’clock, so Peter had to look after himself as far as his dinner was concerned. It was three in the afternoon and he had done his homework yesterday so he was free to go and do his favourite thing and go down the road to the park that had a wishing well where he could dream of being a girl when he dropped a coin into it. He didn't know how but when he did that and closed his eyes he could see a different world to the one he lived in. He knew it was only wishful thinking but it was his escape into the world of make- believe and while he kept his eyes closed it felt real to him.
The park wasn't at all well kept so there was never anyone else around when he indulged in his daydream and was never disturbed. It was as if the ''wishing well'' was put there just for him to enjoy. Peter walked down the road to the park and the well, took his coin out of his pocket and dropped it in the well and closed his eyes and went into his daydream. The thing is this time it felt different. He opened his eyes and looked down at himself, but he was not in his boy's clothes any more but dressed in a dress, and wearing Mary Jane shoes and white tights. His hair felt different as well because it was a lot longer than a few minutes ago. He closed and opened his eyes again, and he was still in the dress and was starting to panic when he heard a voice come from the bottom of the well.
Now Peter was scared and said, “Who are you and what are you doing at the bottom of the well? It is full of water down there.”
The answer came in a very soft feminine voice. “Petrina, you are the one that has allowed me to talk to humans when you kept dropping coins in to this wishing well.”
Peter was having none of that and said, “Ok who put a speaker down the well?”
The soft voice replied, “Petrina, I am an angel spirit and the one that has been listening to your dreams and your wish to be a girl.”
Peter said, “But you can't listen to someone else’s dream!! That doesn't make any sense, and why are you calling me Petrina?.”
The spirit angel replied, “Well I can hardly call a fifteen year old girl Peter now can I?”
“But I’m not a girl, I certainly want to be one but it doesn’t happen by magic and it takes a long time and all sorts of surgery to achieve it.” Peter was now getting quite scared that this invisible voice coming from the depths of the wishing well was real. He put his hands up and felt his now long hair and as he did this his arms brushed against his breasts. It was then that it hit home that what he had been wishing for had actually happened.
He thought, 'What the hell do I do now? I can't just go home and say 'Hi Mum, by the way you have a daughter now and her name is Petrina.''
The angel could read his thoughts and she said. “Ok, for the moment I will change you back but if you insist on tossing coins into this well and wishing you were a girl it will become permanent and I will not be able to change you back.”
Peter looked down at himself and saw that he was back to being a boy. He looked in the well and said, “Spirit Angel can I see you or is that not possible?”
The spirit appeared sitting on the rim of the well as soon as he asked that question and said “Peter I will let you see me because it was you that has made it possible for me to come to the earth’s spiritual dimensions and it is only you that will ever be able to see me. Others can hear me but not see me.”
Peter replied, “Like a personal spirit guide, -that’s cool. Wow you are really pretty, what’s you name?”
“In the spirit world I am known as ''Samandiriel '' but you can call me Sam if you like.”
Samandiriel is the angel of ''imagination'', This divine being is an angel who holds domain over imagination, to visualise, thus transforming our own lives and the world around us.
SALAMANDIRIEL
Peter replied, “ Ok Sam I really do want to be a girl, but I will have to convince my mother that it is a good thing, and than there is all the trouble of going to school as a girl. How will I explain what has happened to me?”
Sam the angel replied, “You leave that part up to me. I will be by your side as you will have to change gradually. It will take a little while for people to accept the new you.”
Peter said, “What about that name you keep calling me, do I get a choice on what my new girl name will be?”
“No, that is your spiritually appointed name and it cannot be changed so you had better get used to it. It is a pretty name and it suits you when your are in your girl body.”
Peter thought, “Boy she sure is bossy, but I better go along with this if I’m going to get my wish to become a girl.”
Sam said, “Now don’t forget I can hear all your thoughts, but I am not allowed to change what you think. Please be nice and we will get along just fine.”
Peter asked, “Can I always see you when we talk?”
“No, if you are in company and in conversation with a person it will be too distracting for you, so I will be in your mind and talk to you that way and you can then talk back to me in thought also. That way no-one will know what is happening.”
Peter said, “Sam have you always been there waiting for me to come along?”
“Well yes, and there are others as well, but at this time it is you that I will be beside till you have become who you were meant to be,”
“So why was I not born a girl in the first place?”
“Peter I cannot tell you that, except that I am here for you now, so stop worrying about the past and lets just think about getting things right from now on.”
It was getting late in the afternoon and the sun was sinking on the horizon so Peter said, “Sam I think I had better head for home before it is dark.”
Sam replied, “Ok, lets go.”
Peter said “Are you coming home with me? I though that you would have to stay in the well.”
“No Peter, pay attention!! I told you I will be by your side from now on so you had better get used to me being around.”
Peter replied, “This is going to be so cool having my very own Spirit Angel with me to become a girl, I can't wait to tell Mum what has happened.”
Sam said, “Peter I will help you with that. I will let myself be known to her very gently so she will be able to understand what is going to happen to you and her as well.”
Peter said. “Can you call me Petrina now when you talk to me so I can get used to my girl name at least in private?”
The angel smiled at that and replied, “See Petrina my presence is already making you feel like a girl. But seeing that you can call me Sam, can I call you Trina?”
Peter replied, “Wow I like that even more, yes please.”
“Ok Trina it is then.” said the smiling Angel.
Trina and her angel friend started to head for Trina’s home two streets away and they chatted in thought mode while in public so no-one noticed what was going on, not that there was any one else around at the moment. They arrived at the front door of Trina's house and just as Trina was about to put the key into door it opened up by itself. Trina was a bit startled at first but than realised that Sam was showing off and said so in her mind.
Sam answered, “A girl can have a bit of fun can't she?”
Trina rolled her eyes and walked through the open door to see that Sam was now visible again seeing that no one else was around.
Trina said Sam, “Is there any way once Mum knows about you that she will be able to visualise you as well as me?”
Sam replied,”Well we will have to wait and see just how receptive your mum is in a spirit sense won't we?”
Trina said, “Well I have to get some dinner on the go so when Mum comes home she will have something to eat before I start telling her what has happened today.”
Sam replied, “You go ahead and I will watch and learn something about what it is like to be a human being.”
Trina made up a salad and opened up a tin of tuna and set the table for two and dished up the plates but put cling wrap over them to keep them fresh. She always waited for her mum to come home so they could eat together.
Trina looked at Sam sitting on the work bench of the kitchen and said, “Would you like me to get another plate for you?”
The angel giggled and said, “No Trina, thanks all the same. We angels have not got a need to eat, that is for humans to do. Spirits are of a celestial origin and do not need any such thing as food.”
Trina replied, “Well you don’t know what you are missing out on, food can be heavenly as well.”
They chatted till Trina's Mum came through the door and said, “Peter do you have a friend over? I heard voices as I came in and laughing that sounded like a girl.”
The boy Peter replied, “Well mum once we have had our meal I will tell you all about what has been happening to me this afternoon at the wishing well down at the park.”
Peter and his Mum never spoke much while they ate but once they were finished Peter said, “Mum I will make a cup of tea for us both and than I will tell you something that you may or may not believe.” They both moved into the lounge and sat down with their cups of tea placed on the low little coffee table.
Beth said, “Ok Peter what have you been up to that had to wait till we are sitting down in the lounge?”
Peter replied, “Well Mum I don’t quite know how to put this, but I have always felt like a girl inside and I just didn't want to upset anyone so I just kept it to my self. I have been going down the road to that park where there is a wishing well, and I have been dropping a coin into it and then praying and wishing I would be magically turned into a girl.”
Beth said, “Peter I know about you feeling like a girl. Your father and I spoke at length about it but he died before we could take you to a doctor to find out what was going on with you.”
Peter said, “Mum I wished you had told me that you knew it would have made my life a lot easier.”
“Well Peter I’m telling you now.”
Peter than told Beth all that had happened over the last couple of months and especially what happened that day.
Beth said, “Peter I think you are fantasising. These thing don’t happen in real life.”
Peter replied, “Mum if I can give you some proof, will you think about it again?”
Beth said, “Peter I will take you to a clinic to see what can be done but you mustn't believe in magic it is not real.”
“But Mum Samandiriel is real. She is an angel and I can prove it if you want?”
“Ok Peter I’m listening how are you going to prove to me that angels are real.”
Peter said, “Mum you will be able to hear her but I can see her as well so don’t be scared when I start talking to her because she is with us at the moment and sitting right next to me right now.”
Sam said very gently, “Beth, I am as real as you, only I’m in the spirit world and and angel that is going to help Peter become the girl she is supposed to be.”
Beth just sat there with her mouth open and said, “Can I talk back to you?”
Sam replied, “Yes I can communicate with you on two levels, you can think talk as well.”
Beth just looked at Peter and said “This is incredible Peter, how long has this been going on?”
Peter replied, “I have been going to the well for months but today is the first time the Sam has spoken to me.”
Beth drank some of her tea and sat there and let it sink in.
Sam and Trina were chatting away when Beth said, “Hey I can hear all that, this is going to be fun.”
