Radical and intrusive? Has this guy actually seen the agenda? All it was was teaching children sexuality instead of just the reproductive nature of sex. It's informing people on the cusp of puberty what to expect. It's letting kids know that if they feel different from the "norm" then they're not "abnormal" and that they can talk about it. At least, that was the curriculum they said they were going to implement a few years ago. They ended up back tracking on it for some reason (I can't really remember). The only one I know of now is the Toronto District School Board one. That one had nothing to do with the Liberal government in the first place.
Anyway, as far as I was aware, the only thing the Ontario Grits put forth was legislation to combat school bullying and to force schools to *allow* (not have) LBGT clubs. That only happened because Catholic schools were being discriminatory.
My recommendation? Don't read the sun. It's not a good paper in the first place.
I think
That the article didn't make sense. But it could be that I'm really tired! lol.
Tired Cliff and article not making sense...
No, it didn't make sense. Articles from bigots rarely do. Unless you share that prejudice and want to see it the same way. To the rest of us, we see it's just justification for their intolerant views. Which he lets out of the bag when he says: "And when mums and dads assumed their tax dollars went to schools so their children could learn history instead of histrionics, and science instead of sexual perversion." Getting the teachers to be aware of gender identity to understand it when they see transgendered children, or teach about it in sex ed, is "sexual perversion". Sounds to me like the histrionics is entirely his (and those like him).

Leave it to the idiots
The writter of the article is nothing more then a bigoted uneducated fool, possibly even imbred.
The very fact that idiots like these are the exact reason why schools are being enforced to teach about sex, sexuality, gender, race, and even theologies. Just as the mandatory civics classes. Te reason for them to teach and not giving the parent/s time to teach the children is because alot of parents are still stuck by what there parents taught them, and remain in a limbo of seeminly irreversible bigatory themselves, sometimes not even knowing that they are doing it.
I myself was taught the same, my mum first taught me the birds and the bees when i was 3 after i thought she was dieing cause she left the bathroom door open and thought she was bleeding to death. That left me tooo young to learn that and for many years left me kinda confussed what she taught me. She even raised me to be a bigoted homophobic too, that with some things i will not name i am working thoughoughly to reeducate and teach myself...and i live in ontario.
The only agenda' I can see is teaching acceptance to outrid hate in this world one pronince/country at a time. That is not bad, that is like a universal utopian programing that if i could i would sign up to be part of.
I dont know tooo much about puberty blockers, as i started my hrt just monthes ago a week after my 22nd bday. But every medication has its good and bad sides, even our own hormones do. But that is part of the radical' decision that is not a split second run of the mill 'im going to ruin my liver and kidneys etc' its the' gotta survive, and that means a little sacrifice' thats life.
Back when i was in junior highschool, we had mandatory health class, only way out was a parental note out of religios freedom. out of a gym class of 40 only 8 guys attended health class. the two week education seminar was trivial for me and even i didnt pay attention. and the homophobic jokes during the class were unberable, even from the teacher. I was not out yet, deeply closeted, from my elementary school outing by my babysitter blackmailing.
With the overwhelming youngsters coming out earlier and earlier more and more often, even I have to agree it is more prudent then ever to teach the fundaments of all these individualities that are typically seen as a forbidden hidden knowledge to the uneducated bigots. With all the irrational radically outlined notions coming from large numbers of media, social groups, theological practices it is more important now than in 50 years to start providing the neccasary social renormalizing education to show that the only normal thing is that there is no normal and to accept others for who they are rather then what they are.

Education
You would think, judging by the tone of this idiot and others like him, that sex and relationship education was a huge curriculum subject, requiring several hours
indoctrinationstudy per week and persuading / encouraging anyone who didn't fit the stereotypical mould of their assigned gender to take hormone blockers.I very much doubt these people have ever actually observed a lesson or realised that teachers aren't mindless automatons that make their pupils/students read and inwardly digest every nuance of every single item of every single teacher reference guide / resource. For example, I doubt that in the course of most students' curricula the teacher would need to mention hormone blockers; but if they were aware of a TG student in their class or if they were asked about hormone blockers, they'd be suitably informed and would be able to discuss relevant issues.
It's important to give age-appropriate SRE before puberty so the pupils / students have some idea what they're about to go through - after all, as with any other area of life, forewarned is forearmed. You cannot leave it up to the parents, as a significant minority (or perhaps even a majority in some areas with a population with a predominately conservative viewpoint [e.g. no sex before marriage, anti-contraception, anti-abortion in all circumstances]) would probably omit to tell their children anything - so for example, it's quite possible a girl may have her first period and panic, not knowing why she was bleeding 'down below'. Added onto which, if pupils aren't aware of the legal age of consent / the effectiveness of various forms of contraception / STIs / the effects and side effects of "emergency contraception" (i.e. the morning-after pill); how are they to make informed choices about sex and relationships - it's far better they hear the full picture from school staff than a partial inaccurate picture from peers / religiously conservative parents.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't...
