Last night, one of the janitors came up to me, and asked me why I have two names, so I told him about transitioning. He asked me which name I prefer, and I told him "Dorothy." He said, "Cool. Nice to meet you, Dorothy." Then he went on his way. Pretty cool, yes?

Exactly

Believe me Dot.

It's getting better out there. The more we are seen and the more we explain about transgenderism, the better it is.

Personally, I sort of feel that even if a transgendered girl can now go about sucessfully as the girl she is, she should be quietly open about her past.

Not necessarily 'In your face!' (like me,) but if somebody (say for example a work colleague,)is confused or concerned or even just curious, then a smile and a brief courteous explanation would not normally go amiss.

It remains for the girl to adjudge if it's safe to do so but in the UK at least, there is now legislation to protect minorities against hate crimes or discrimination and this extends very much to the workplace.

Yesterday I met a new electrician to pay him his bill for work on one of my houses. He had seen me talking to my regular builder Darren whilst dressed last friday afternoon as I prepared to go clubbing.
He had not worked for my builder Darren before, but Darren's regular guy was off on holiday so this guy was temporarily employed with a view to possibly joining Darren's team as a 'second string standby'.
When I went to pay him yesterday, Tuesday, he felt bound to ask if it was me had had seen talking to Darren.
I was in homme mode that is sort of male but with girly skinny jeans and a compression vest that supports my boobs without a bra. I also had my work boots on cos' I had just come off site so I was dressed rather incongrously.

We met at 'Frankie & Benny's outside Swansea liberty football stadium and, after I had paid him his fee and he had given me the NEI electrical certificate, he invited me for a drink. He was curious about me and asked lots of questions that in the main I answered. No I was not gay, bisexual?, maybe but these days more celibate than anything else. Yes. I dressed regularly. Yes. I went clubbing a lot. Obligatory pictures were shown and he eventually got the idea. (Though I didn't overload him with too much info like, 'where I was on the scale' for want of a better phrase.

Finally he just shrugged and said he was cool with it. Maybe the fact that I was paying him had something to do with it for lots of traders in the UK are finding it hard in this depression, (just like everywhere else.)

Job done, one more brick out of the wall.

Keep at it Dot.

The more we keep picking at the wall, the faster it falls.

Indeed, pretty cool, and then, some. Glad that he so readily accepts you.
